BBC Iplayer: Can't download programmes

Posted by: warwick on 09 March 2013

I can no longer download programmes on BBC Iplayer. I have un installed the BBC Iplayer and Adobe Flash programs and re installed them. I usually use Firefox Explorer as a browser. Last night I tried Internet Explorer and it worked. But now I can't download any programmes using Internet Explorer, Firefox or Google Chrome. I've lost all the programmes I've had on Iplayer for the past fortnight. Each time I try to download a show it prompts me to install I Player. Then I click yes but it doesn't install it.

Most frustrating.

I went in to security settings and turned off the Firewall. Still didn't help solve the problem. So I've switched it back on.

I can still stream programmes via BBC Iplayer website.

warwick,

I have had a few issues with iPlayer. These things can indeed be extremely frustrating. I can only suggest that you do things like deleting all your browsing history and re-checking all your browser settings, but I guess you've already done that. Might also be worth powering down your router and re-starting, as I've found that this can sometimes sort out glitches where all else has failed. Also check that you are trying to re-download the correct version of iPlayer (ie. desktop or whatever). Make sure that before trying to re-downlaod it that you have deleted all the files associated with the old installation.

Failing all that look through the list of probems/answers on the iPlayer site, or try contacting iPlayer support. Best of luck.
