iradio rights problems..?

Posted by: Moobs79 on 16 March 2013

Hi all

Last weekend I was trying to listen to the football commentary on BBC5 Live but all I got was a message saying I didn't have the rights to listen, I tried SHOUTsport but got the same message. I know if you try to listen outside the UK to Internet radio this happens but I live in Bristol. Is there any way of authorising my Qute so I can listen to the football?

I have a UnitiQute connected via Ethernet. Unfortunately I can't get good radio reception in my flat.

Thanks!

Think this has something to do with football rights and being outside of London where other station have the regional rights at that moment.

I get the same problem with BBC London and I listen in Surrey.

Just a guess though..

Thanks, I take it we're buggered then?

Check the location of your IP address on the web. Maybe your ISP is doing something to make you appear outside the UK. Thanks!

Also it's possible the rights of broadcasting that match only extended to radio and didn't extend to web streaming. I have heard this a few times. So called 'iradio' is definitely not radio outside the marketing village.

It is because Radio5 Live did not have the internet broadcast rights for that particular match. It happens with TalkSport commentaries over the internet as well.

A right pain - but there is no way round it.

You can get around the Talksport 'regional' restrictions by adding the UK stream manually. I think the default Talksport added by Naim is Talksport world.

How do yo get the manually added streams to appear on the station listing on your Naim iradio player? I know you go through the Naim vtuner site, but what's the next step. Thanks!

I'm using a unitilite but will assume it's the same process. I have the n-stream app loaded on an iPad. Once you add your own station URL in vTuner, navigate to 'Added Stations' Anything added on the vTuner site should appear here.

It's pretty simple, isn't it. I was looking in the wrong place before. Thanks!
