Deutsche Grammophon downloads flawed

Posted by: k90tour2 on 26 March 2013

Am much as I like downloading, saves piles of CDs, I do miss having the notes. Having just downloaded a set of Sibelius Symphonies from Deutsche Grammophon, I'm probably going to have to by the discs anyway. Some of the tracks are incomplete, they stop playing a few bars from the finish.  I rang Universal Music and they said that this is a known issue with some of the downloads. They are going to make a full refund. I'll end up ripping them to NAS using DBPoweramp.

Same here. I also have a faulty download from them.

Plus their online shop is really the pits. In the end you have no idea from whom you have bought what.

No cover art, no booklet. Never again!!!

What used to be a renowned German label is now just a logo within the hell fire of Universal. What a pity!

For me it was worse. They processed the payment but did not deliver the files. I got a refund within 48 hours so it took two days to end up back where I started. I won't be doing that again.

Hi Chaton.  I did buy the FLAC lossless and it is indeed very good, when it's all there.  I like the Hyperion set up, you can buy 24 bit files and they send the cover art and PDF booklet.  If I'm to spend £30 on a boxed set (or a boxed set worth), I'd like all this.  Having said that, the DG downloads are very good value if you don't mind the impersonal delivery. Some of their older recording are much cheaper via download than CD.
