Unitiserve rips onto upod / iphone?

Posted by: heihei on 27 March 2013

Is there any software which will convert my Unitiserve wav files into a form I can transfer to my iphone complete with metadata? I last asked a year ago, and nothing doing, so just wondered if there was anything new around.

Your wavs don't have any tags. You can sync them to your iDevice nontheless. If you want them to be tagged, you need to transcode them to either ALAC (lossless), AAC or MP3 (lossy) first and then tag them, either manually or supported by one of the many data bases on the net.

Use ANY of the many available programs to convert the .wav files to whatever compatible format you want on your iPhone -- lossless or lossy.  I am happy with 256kb AAC on my iPhone.  Then use any of the many available programs to 'tag' the files yourself.  Some, such as Jaikoz for OS X, will identify the music in the files and find the metadata all on its own.  Or you can just tell it the name of the cd and it will do it all itself.

Thanks. Got this to work quite smoothly using iTunes to create an AAC version of the WAV files then Jaikoz to add back the metadata.

I know you can batch convert WAV to MP3 or AAC etc but when using Jaikoz to add metadata, can you simply select the same batch (in the new format) and will albums be separated into their own files, or will there just be a long list of tracks (albeit identified by album)?

Cheers....
