And then from outside the frosty window raps

She jumps up and says Lord have mercy I think it's the cops

And immediately drops everything she gots

Down into the street below

Oh Vlad...

its no use trying to sing it like her -- just listening is enough, i think!

Even though I am the World's Worst Guitarist and Singer (TM), I can't help trying to sing along. It always causes me to choke up when she sings "I'm hoping I can hold it in....". Everyone else within earshot just feels ill!

i once proposed to Ms Krauss. she turned me down. i slashed my wrists. it made no difference...

Words are flowing out like
Endless rain into a paper cup
They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe.
Pools of sorrow waves of joy
Are drifting through my opened mind
Possessing and caressing me

"Get a job and fight to keep it."

-also-

"I've got a Gibson without a case, but I can't keep that even-tanned look on my face."

These are not PARTICULARLY compelling, but they stick with me.

"Somewhere Along The Way

I Got Caught Up In The Race

I Kept Spinning And Turning

Lost Myself My Hope My Faith
We're Always Wanting More Than What We Have

And What I've Learned is All I Really Need Are...

The Simple Things

That Come Without A Price

The Simple Things

Like Happiness, Joy And Love In My Life

I've Seen It All From So Many Sides

And I Hope You Would Agree

The Best Things In Life

Are The Simple Things"

I've never had a single lesson,
All this time I've been guessin'
and
I'm gonna find me someone, who's gonna love me and no' no' nobody else
And when I find that someone, I'm gonna love her better than I do myself

(Sam Williams - Love slipped through my fingers)

Oh here I sit in this lonesome room
With nothing but the smell of sweet perfume
One silk stocking lying on the chair
A yellow ribbon that your wore in your hair

A sink full of dishes, you used to do
Dust lying on a table top or two
One single hairpin lying on the floor
A lonely little doggy crying at the door

(John and the Weirdest - Can't get over these memories)

from Peter Hammill-Mediaevil

and those who are rich are still getting richer
and those who are poor still foot the bill.
And God lives in underground silos,
hanging on for Judgement day;
if we don't open our eyes pretty soon
then the Dark Ages'll be here to stay.

About playing a vinyl record;

To attain an effective mass suitable for using most modern cartridges, a micron long arm would probably need weigh more than Saturn.

The song, 'Anything That's Part Of You' was written by Don Robertson and recorded by Elvis Presley in 1961.

Correct, but it deserved an 'A' side IMO. Don Robertson wrote some beautiful songs back then. He's not much of a singer himself though. This album is worth it if you like that sort of thing.

Agreed, a much better song but I guess the catchy, up tempo sing-a-long got the nod from the Colonel back in the day.

Einstein, disguised as Robin Hood

With his memories in a trunk

Passed this way an hour ago

With his friend, a jealous monk

He looked so immaculately frightful

As he bummed a cigarette

Then he went off sniffing drainpipes

And reciting the alphabet

You would not think to look at him

But he was famous long ago

For playing the electric violin

On Desolation Row

I buy her all the right clothes

and pretty jewels to wear

my friends say she's a dumb blonde

but they don't know she dyes her hair

she thinks the fighting in Central America's easily solved

but what to wear to Bel-Air premieres

is a problem she could never resolve...

she's an airhead

I would love to tour the Southland

In a traveling minstrel show

Yes I'd love to tour the Southland

In a traveling minstrel show

Yes I'm dying to be a star and make them laugh

Sound just like a record on the phonograph

Those days are gone forever

Over a long time ago, oh yeah
