Movie Soundtracks

What's your favourite Movie Soundtrack. Personally I can't think of anything close to Super Fly. Unusually the soundtrack out grossed the movie, although that may be a reflection of the popularity of the movie. The remastered CD is excellent and comes with the bonus of Short Eyes soundtrack.

Tarantino always makes good ones and these are the best two IMO

So very, very French... I'm sure these two soundtracked a lot of people's twenties and student years.

They always fill me with the sunny ache of nostalgia whenever I listen to them:

The birth of an industry and - for a while at least - a brilliant run of soundtrack albums:

I can't recall the soundtrack to Betty Blue, probably concentrating on the subtiltes and watching the action.

However, I do remember being very impressed with the soundtrack while watching Three colours blue, probably due it's importance in the film. Bought the soundtrack, but, I wasn't impressed. Taken outof the context of the film it does.t work.

I don't see the point of soundtrack albums really, not to say I don't have any. Most if any good will become part of the film and therefore not exist in isolation. Others Blues Bros, Easy Rider are like a sampler and can exist separately from the film. Many just become a collection of unrelated sounds quite often, Paris Texas, or Blade Runner for example.

Howard,

While I understand what you're saying certain movie soundtracks are like an extrapolation of the  story, a frame in the movie and consequently adding dynamics to the active moving scenes. I can watch Blade Runner without that intrusive/demonic voice over but the film would not have had the same impact without Vangelis's Soundtrack.

Don't agree. The BR soundtrack is evocative of a great film I have watched many, many times. In my mind at least, the "sounds" are very much related to the film.

Jackie Brown could be my top choice but these are good too

... or it could be this one, only due to to that one song

This is also excellent;

And just about anything by John Barry.  This is a great place to start;

Also +1 for this posted by Kevin.

Unlike 'Big H' I love vinyl soundtracks not so much for the music. More for the iconic artwork.

The soundtrack of this film is also good although I have not found any CD (or vinyl) release of it so far (maybe it was not official released?)

An entirely different scenario, literally.
