The death of Richie Havens aged 72 was reported by the BBC this morning . Yet another sad loss.

He was a treasure ... and among so many delights was his version of George Harrison's Here Comes the Sun.
Havens was to be the fifth performer at Woodstock but got the honor of opening, arriving by helicopter, when scheduled opening act Swee****er got stuck in traffic.
There we go with that auto censoring again. Won't let me put the letters t- w-a- t together. The band's name was Sweet Water (one word)
LA Times had all that but added that he had started his own record company to keep his recordings, smart move, and controlled his appearances. Also, he was a huge environmentalist, lived on east coast. Jerry Rubin of radical fame lives in LA, said to be noted he died on Earth Day.
