unitiqute + NAS + Plex

Posted by: Ingo on 25 April 2013

Dear All.

I am new in this forum.
We got a unitiqute a couple of weeks ago and
my whife, our kids and me are very happy.
The sound is great and the device is easy to use.
We love it!

Our configuration is:
- Player:    Unitiqute (Streamer Version 3.17.00)
- Loudspeakers:    KEF R100
- NAS:        QNAP TS-219P II
- Media Server:    Plex Media Server (Version 0.9.7.22.5)
- Remote:    iPad 2 with n-Stream (Version 3.2)

First I tried to setup the twonky media server
but it does not succeed. After a couple of tries
I gave it up and took the plex media server. It
worked immediately. The Windows client (Plex Media Center)
is cool too.

Does anyone use Plex Media Server too?
I wanted to ask if it is possible to play
e. g. music videos from youtube and stream
them via the unitiqute?
I can add the video to myPlex (Plex it!) Queue.
It is possible to play the video via Plex Media Center
on a Windows Device but not via n-Stream or the unitiqute
directly. Any suggestions?

Many thanks from Germany

Ingo

Hi

I run plex server from a HP prolian running OpenMediaVault.

Without doubt its one of the best things ever in the world ever.

The only way I can think that would be sensible is an ATV2 however these are like rocking horse shit and are consequently expensive.

There are also a number of android/debian devices coming through now that will run plex. Get one and attach it via optical to the qute, any other plex on the network can control it for sending queues to it.

Its a bit of a clunky solution though.

Hi Garyi.

Thank you.

ATV2 (or even 3) could be an option.
