The Scientist vs. Ted Sirota's Heavyweight Dub CD/LP Kickstarter

Posted by: Ted Sirota on 29 April 2013

Hey Everyone,

I started a new Dub Reggae band here in Chicago a few months back and we are planning on recording our debut record with the legendary Dub Chemist - Hopeton Brown aka "The Scientist". We have 5 days left in our Kickstarter. Please check it out and pass the link along to as many people as possible. Please make a pledge if you like the project!

If you liked the more Reggae inspired Rebel Souls stuff on our Naim recordings, then you're going to really like this band! Who knows, maybe it will end up on the Naim label? Hard to say at this point, but first things first. We need to get Hopeton here from L.A. so he can record and mix the record.

Best,

Ted

Serious musicianship, there's something very right in your sound man! The rhythm and tempo, the brass section, impressive really! What also strikes me is the absence of pop/rock, the sound is roots! You must have authentic knowledge and love of reggae music to play like this!  And Scientist upon the mix...... All the best to your project!

Naim label don't sleep on this opportunity!

Sounds great Ted.

Really like some of your stuff I've heard on Naim label samplers but didn't know you had this angle to yourmusic as well.

Just backed the project.. Hope you can make it happen.

Would really look forward to this.

Good luck!

By the way, will you be considering a high res / studio master quality download?

Posted on: 06 May 2013 by Ted Sirota

Thanks Chris! We should be able to make hi-res downloads available. I don't see why not .

Yeah this is very good. Any ideas where the album will be available to buy when it's finished? Mike

I will keep you guys posted about when/where/how it will be released. Also, I want to thank Naim & Paul Stephenson for letting me post about this here. It's not really their policy to allow posts like this, but I am a proud Naim artist and like I said, maybe they will like this record when its done! We go into the studio on July 8. Stay tuned...

I got this last weekend - really enjoyable album, also includes new reggae-dub arrangements of 3 Ted Sirota classics off his jazz albums.

Official release date is 20th September.

Well worth a listen for anyone who likes reggae.
