n-serve and n-stream not seeing all album tracks

Posted by: GrizzlyHippo on 01 May 2013

Hi, got a problem, can anyone help:

I have added an album to my UnitiServe 'Downloads' folder but the UnitiServe hardware or n-serve software only sees 5 out of 26 tracks and those 5 are out of order. I have tried deleting the album and adding it again, same result. I have tried quoting & re-starting, refreshing and sync'ing the n-serve app, same result. I have tried iOS n-serve and Mac n-serve, same result. All files are there and show up fine in the Mac finder view.

Any ideas?

I would suggest checking the tagging on the tracks that you've put in the downloads folder - might be easiest to just copy that album to a USB stick and pop that into your UnitiServe then you can look at the USB device in isolation and not have all the other tracks around clouding the picture.

Generally what happens here is that tracks are tagged with different artists and so show up as the same album name but split over several artists and it's easier to check this if it's the only album on a USB stick and you then see either multiple albums or multiple artists.

Cheers

It is probably a tagging issue. For some reason sometimes an album that shows up fine in a tag editor shows up with tracks in the wrong order, or with only some tracks available. Get a good tag editor for Mac, and retrieve the meta data from the internet. For me this has until now solved these problems.

+1 for "it's probably a tagging issue."

That said, I STILL occasionally have an album that I cannot get to 'show up' on my uServe.  I have re-tagged, to no avail.  But I still suspect it's a tagging issue and I need to start from scratch with tagging this particular cd.

If you're getting tracks that are "missing" then *GENERALLY* it's down to mismatched tags ... to make it easier to see what's going on, pop the entire album onto a *BLANK* USB stick and work from there - that way if you put the USB stick into one of our servers and just look at the USB stick only using the "Browse by device" option you can very easily see if it shows up as multiple artists or albums and then resolve accordingly...

Phil that is a really great approach -- much better than waiting to see if the UPnP server picks it up.  THANK YOU
