RIP Jeff Hanneman

Posted by: onip on 03 May 2013

Jeff Hanneman, one of the two guitarists from Slayer, died at age 49 from liver failure apparently stemming from a spider bite he experienced over a year ago which lead to a skin and flesh eating disease.  Slayer is my all time favorite metal band, and I thought that Hanneman was the best song writer in the band.  This is a sad day in metal, indeed. I will have to listen to my "Vinyl Conflict" boxed set to remember him.

Necrotising Fasciitis - an absolutely hellish bacterial infection.  My closest friend had it a few years back and barely survived. Again, it was a bite of some sort we think.

Poor chap.

R.I.P J. Hanneman.

Slayer were never my favourite out of the Big4, but they were undoubtedly the most brutal metal band ever. When I saw them live, the sheer musical power and intensity of King and Hanneman together, is unlikely to ever be replaced. Going through their back catalogue this week too.

Without doubt a true genius and moved guitar playing to a new level.

Hearing reign in blood for the first time just blow me away, those Hanneman solos like nothing I had ever heard before, they still take my breath away.

Love the way Slayer have stuck to their own thing and not sold out like Metallica.

Shame he succumbed to alcohol.

Would it ever be possible to have high-def 24-bit releases for Slayer recordings, is it something that can be done? Someone is trying 8-bit
