ND5xs instead of the unitiqute

Posted by: Robbert on 04 May 2013

I do have a unitiqute as a source in my pass labs setup ( XP-10 + XA30.5 )

Will it be a great step up when i change my unitiqute for a ND5xs?

I do now have the positives of the volume control with the nStream app. As far as i know, the rest of the control with the n-stream app will be the same.

Will the sound have a big gap between those two steaming apparatuses?

Robbert, you should notice a worthwhile difference in sound quality, but at the expense of losing the flexibility of the Qute.

The only way is back to back demo.

Dear Robert,

as a streamer-only solution, the ND5XS will give you a great perfomce increase over the Qute. The DAC section is better, amongst other components.

As a streamer/Dac, ND5XS ought to be better than Qute

As a stand alone streamer: ND5XS/NDac vs Qute/NDac, you may not find any difference

How about Qute/Dac-V1 in order to keep the flexibility of the Qute...

There is standard a iRadio possibility ? Only the option of DAB/FM is optional. Because i do listen much internet radio.

The Qute/DAC-V1 is no option. I guess it will be nearly the same...

Only the DAC-V1 is also no option because there is no iRadio in it.

If your goal is to upgrade the streaming part of your source, why don't you add the Dac Naim to your Qute, you'll have then upgraded your streamer, it will be an upgrade for any digital source connected to your Qute or to your Dac, you'll have the i.radio, and it will better a stand alone ND5XS.

Nd5xs IMHO You may still be able to control the volume : many modern preamps/amps have a wired remote control capability, check if your PassLab has it .

...and your Qute will go in the bedroom or your office...
