High Praise for Radio Paradise

Posted by: Chris Bell on 08 May 2013

Radio Paradise has become my new muse, playing all day and night. The 320kbs stream sounds very good, and the programming mirror's my tastes and music collection exceptionally well.

Thanks to Naim for including it and the hight bit rate option on the NDS.

Even better than reflecting my musical tastes is the frequent

Intro to new music...luv RP, and support it.

And no adverts!

It's a cracking station.

+1 !  RP has introduced me to so much new music that I'm sure I would never have heard otherwise.

Chris,

I respect your opinion, and Radio Paradise is obviously a quality operation with widespread support on the Naim Forum.  To me, however, the music is simplistic, soporific, and insufferable.  Perhaps I betray my age and my baby-boomer affiliation, but Magic Transistor is more to my taste.  A bit too retro, too "curated," too Brooklyn, perhaps, but, to each his own.

It is a great station, but the more I listen the more it repeats, maybe not the songs but it seems to have an artist set list, 320 Kbs feed sounds excellent.

Some segue-ways are quite surreal.

I enjoy, but now try to limit my consumption and mix and match more with my own  stuff.

They have somehow made every song sound like its by the same artist, i dont know how they achieve it.

Perhaps similar to the way that you post this exact same comment each time Radio Paradise is mentioned?

To each his own I guess... RP's programming is particularly well suited to Seattle's 70-85 degree stretch of warm weather.  Deck doors are open, beer is flowing, and the BBQ is smoking.

I will be right over.

I was impressed enough early on to support them mainly because no commercials.  It opens me to new singers and bands tho I don't go out and buy them.  I like the range of music which local rock stations don't do.  What's not to like about a bit of jazz/world/folk/classical in the mix? I don't listen to commercial radio any more.

Totally agree Chris. Not quite in the same league re equipment, but I have dedicated my Qute/100 primarily to radio listening (95% RP) and am rediscovering music again.

Absolutely fantastic.

I'm also a PR listener. Discovered a lot of great new music and got me listening to a lot of my old music I've forgotten I had. I swear they do some processing to the music as it sounds superb on my UnitiQute+KEF R100s.

I thought it usually rained in Seattle... did when I was there anyway. Fab city. Great record shops.
