The Smiths , BBC Culture show tonight

As the song goes it was 30 years ago .................well tomorrow, for all fans of Manchesters Finest.

 

Hand in Glove was relaesed on 13th May 1983 and the BBC have a culture show special this eveneing ( Sunday ) at 11pm .

The Humax is set and ready. Thanks for the tip-off. I first saw the Smiths in November 1983, at the start of their career that saw them become the best band ever.

Just watched it tonight on iPlayer - that was a great half hour of reminiscing! Thanks for the tip. Culture Show / BBC4 have some really great music shows and features on from time to time.

Absolutely - they should never reform. Better to be remembered (and loved) for a great body of work  than reform as a bunch of clapped out old geezers out for the money by trying to re-live past glories and inevitably failing.

To add to the Smiths reforming, I cant see that happening given the disputes and court cases over the last few years. I suspect Morisey and Marr dont need the cash to fund retirement.
