"Firmware 3.21 will also enable Seek2Time on all Naim music streaming products, allowing you to scroll through tracks during playback."
This is a really great news! Does it work with third party upnp apps (like Bubble UPnP) as well?
But what's about the Android N-Stream App? Zero information? No schedule?
And when will the new firmware be available?
Does it require a new N-Stream App?
I hope that more news bubble up soon.
Greetings,
Gert
PS: I cannot understand the hype around multiroom support. How many people will this use? I am happy to have found the money for 1 uniti for my living room...
This is excellent news! Seek2Time is the one and only thing I've been waiting for.
Thanks for sharing this information.
The link you quoted above states "A new firmware update which will enable full multiroom and party mode functionality on Naim’s music streaming products is due for release in June 2013."
Sorry, but what means Seek2Time???

Does that mean the fast-forward button on my NDX remote control will actually do something now??

Good question ! Time will tell... we have only 6 weeks or less to see.
But as long as the n-stream app behaves in the way the n-serve app does now when moving through a track, there will be a lot of very happy bunnies around (me included).
Ok, thank you for the hint. I think I was too excited when reading the news so I have missed this.

This is what I expect from a Seek2Time functionality. But indeed it is a good question if it works in N-Stream only or on the normal remote control, too.
Ah, I was just wondering about this as it had gone very quiet on firmware upgrades. In-track seeking is the one thing I miss having moved from Transporter / iPeng to NDS / N-Stream.
Good news.
Indeed good news. I wonder if Naim will beta.. Have usually found a few issues on betas previously, that Naim have fixed on the final release.

I'd assumed Naim was already beta testing this with a few select customers as it had been rumoured for New Year, then Easter and now June. Ironing out multi-room playback considering all the possible variation of network kit must be a nightmare!
Indeed, i remember in some of the early betas there was an issue if there was limited support of multicast between PC doing upload and network player you could get into a loop, with a failed upgrade.. As I found out. it was quite nerve racking until i isolated the issue. This was definitely fixed on the release with a warning of using wired only connectivity when doing firmware upgrade. The upload software is hugely more robust now.

Finally!, the long awaited Seek2time.
When I bought my streamer, I could not believe it was not possible to go forward or rewind on a track, I tought I was doing something wrong, or I was plain stupid.
Nice to read this is going to be solved. Hope it works properly.
thanks

Presumably Naim is shipping UQ2's with v3.21, so it wont be much wait for the rest of us.
It's out!
Oh wait, no it's not!
Oh, please do what your avatar image tells us
But the anticipation is killing me!
Yes, it's hard. I am waiting since the end of 2012, checking the naim news page multiple times the week...
Could someone please let us know if this update release is going to slip...
Oh ye of little faith !!
" Knowest thou not that patience is virtuous ? "
...as they might have been saying in Salisbury this morning.
why hurry? you already are locked in.......
better wait than have a buggy product that fries the motherboard.
Given the relative maturity of the firmware, I very much doubt there is a risk of fring the motherboard at this stage of portfolio development.. (Although the NDS timing issue does raise my eyebrow) However any delay is more likely to ironing out quirks and issues which would be met by disdain by Naim's customer.....
Frying the motherboard was a way of saying brick the box - it has happened to a few users while upgrading the firmware, no?
