Firmware 3.21

"Firmware 3.21 will also enable Seek2Time on all Naim music streaming products, allowing you to scroll through tracks during playback."

This is a really great news! Does it work with third party upnp apps (like Bubble UPnP) as well?

But what's about the Android N-Stream App? Zero information? No schedule?

And when will the new firmware be available?

Does it require a new N-Stream App?

I hope that more news bubble up soon.

Greetings,

Gert

PS: I cannot understand the hype around multiroom support. How many people will this use? I am happy to have found the money for 1 uniti for my living room...

No, I haven't heard anything different.

It's the middle of July now ;-)

Posted on: 15 July 2013 by rjstaines

Given the first two days are 'the beginning' and the last two days are 'the end', the rest is 'the middle', so we've got about 10 more middle days to go.

(I'm drawing on my software developer's experience, of course)

Note, I quoted verbatim.  The sharp eyed will spot no specific reference to this July.

But seriously, my own experience is that software development is a great confounder of deadlines.  There is never an actual end to it, just a point where you can say OK, this is good and stable enough to go for now.

Naim usually shut down for their summer holiday in the last week of July, so I would strongly suspect they'll want to have it out there before then.

Wouldn't it be rather good if the 3.21 release included the Android port... Would coincide very nicely with the rumoured release of the Nexus 7.2 next week.

On the assumption that it won't: Come on Naim, we need the Android version of n-Stream!

My dealer is installing my NDX on next Thursday.  It certainly would be nice to be able to start with the latest firmware.  Should I assume that all settings (i.e. automation) are lost when the firmware is flashed?  If so, I better take a movie of the setup so that I am covered......

@RichardDane: Holiday? Anyone? July 2014 then?

Posted on: 23 July 2013 by Richard Dane

@Sondek71, I'd imagine it must be any day now.  Naim have their holiday 2nd week of August this year, so I'm told.

Posted on: 23 July 2013 by Richard Dane

Thanks Adam,

early morning typo on my part - 2nd of August for a week.

Posted on: 24 July 2013 by Alexb

It will be well tested, being this late.

I just hope we will get it before the 2nd, I wont hold my breath

Also I REALLY hope its also a layout change to the app. More inline with Sonos.

The ipad screen is huge, and there is almost nothing on it with n-stream. So we click and click and click.

Happy with the sound though

And with the oxs app qutecontrol, that allows me to select songs on the laptop, and adjust volume.

Any news ? adca

We apologise for the unexpected delay in the release of Firmware Version 3.21. All new software goes through a rigorous testing process here at Naim to ensure the best possible experience for the customer when they update. Version 3.21 is now scheduled for release in mid-August, just after our annual summer shut down next week.

For a full explanation of what this new firmware will enable and which products are affected by it, please see our news page here: http://www.naimaudio.com/news/...est-news-munich-2013

Thank you for your patience.

Yep, I think we're just about past mid July...

Mind you, would I publish software to the public at large and then go away on hols for a couple of weeks?

(Answer - that would depend on how perverse my sense of humour was, I guess)

Any chance of a Mac-tool to update the firmware?

Should someone at Naim promise that, could you actually force yourself to believe it?

Posted on: 31 July 2013 by ChrisH

Thanks to Steve for the clear statement, it is much appreciated.

Posted on: 31 July 2013 by Gianno

Yes, much appreciated. However, I'm seriously wondering why Naim still bothers with a schedueled release date... Deadlines were never the strong point of Naim, at least not ever since I joined their wonderful ownership experience. I do love my set, the sound and the products of Naim...but please, stop comitting to deadlines, it'll only leave upset customers once the new deadline is scrapped once again. A simple "we're working on it" would suffice for me. Surprise your customers with an unannounced release insted of letting them down with yet another passed deadline. Oh, and please keep making wonderful hi-fi, cause that's why I love you!!!

Dear Steve,

could you please specify the year as well in your sticky?

Many thanks and happy holiday.

Thanks.

Can anyone point a hapless borp like me in the direction of a 'how to..' thread or what I might need hardware-wise (in advance) to get the update done? I have a computer, an internet connection and a USB stick, but nothing that looks like that little thing on the back of a Qute2. Cheers...

Posted on: 02 August 2013 by badlyread

If you have the Qute2 you will need a USB to mini USB lead (back of the Q2). This will cost next to nothing on the flea site (I have mine permanently plugged into the back of the SU and connect the laptop when required).

Download SW from Naim website when available. Connect PC to Q2 using the lead and follow instructions. I have done this numerous times (beta testing) and never had a problem. The key is patience.

Regards

Neil

Ain't that the truth.

Naim customers are the most patient people on the planet. Having said that it's well worth the wait.
