Found a great folk orientated internet radio station

Posted by: Jonathan Gorse on 18 May 2013

I must credit my wife Eilish with this but we've recently stumbled across a really good folk radio station available on web radio - 'Folk Alley Kent US'.  They play a fantastic range of really great music - the only trouble is my Amazon wish list is getting longer and longer by the day and it's going to cost me a fortune on great music I've never heard before!  Their definition of folk is pretty wide.

They do have a website here: http://www.folkalley.com/about/contact/

It's so good it's supplanted Radio Paradise as our normal background listening station.

Hopefully others will enjoy it too - I have absolutely no affiliation.

I'd be interested to hear what others think...

Glad you're enjoying it Iver - nice to support what looks to be a smallish station that's doing a great job promoting relatively unknown music too.

HI Jonathan

I've been listening to Folk Alley since I got my first Squeezebox, some time before Naim made streamers! Great station indeed, though they did make a major gaffe last week as Bert Jansch had just finished singing 'Jack Orion' by telling us that the singer was that bloke Jacqui McShee.....

Folk Radio UK isn't too shabby, either.

Another of my early favourites was Jazz 24 from Tacoma - but they seem to have gone from hi-res down to 32kbps, sadly.
