Oklahoma Tornado

Our thoughts have to be with those unfortunate have been affected by this devastating event. The latest news is 91 confirmed dead & many still missing.

Its hard to imagine what this kind of event must do to a community.  I guess the feeling of utter helplessness while mother nature does her worst is something that many of us will never experience.

This morning people will be waking up to news & WX that will tell them there is more to come.

Thoughts & best wishes to all

With all of the wide open spaces down there, it seems like most of time they are able to dodge the bullets.

But not this time. The live shots of the tornado were awe inspiring. The live shots of the aftermath were heartbreaking.

I was surprised to hear that most buildings in OK have no basement.  The news said something about how hard it is to excavate red clay, and that real below-ground storm shelters are still somewhat of a luxury. This made me think that the death toll would be even higher.

We dodged a bullet last year when a much less powerful twister touched down about a half mile away from us.  It left a two block wide path of destruction for a couple of miles.  But I just can't imagine staring down a monster F5, more than a mile wide...

Hi Hook, welcome back from far flung places.

Seems to be a lot of confusion over casualties, 1st thing this morning London (early hours Oklahoma) the number was 91 with 51 confirmed & another 40 unidentified.  Now it seems double reporting was in play & the number now is 24. Thank goodness,  but even so its horrific.

I was talking to my buddy in Lakeville late last night when the news was emerging & he was saying MN had 58 touch down last year. That surprised me as all my time in the twin cities I only saw one make the news & that was somewhere around the Sioux Falls area.
