Help Needed with ReadyNAS Duo V2 and Uniti-Serve SSD

Posted by: ast2312 on 21 May 2013

Hi All,

I am posting this in the hope some can help me with a very frustrating problem! I have a Uniti-Serve SSD which is fed by a ReadyNas duo V2 and I am unable to see the ReadyNas in my network. I use the Raidar tool to set-up the ReadyNas but when I press setup (this takes you to the NAS setup page) it says it cannot connect. In the Naim Desktop client it does identify the ReadyNAS but it says its offline.

This has not happened before but I have just had a couple of changes which I have listed below.

1. Change from Netgear router to a BT Home Hub (version 1)

2. Using new laptop with windows 8 (previous laptop was windows 7)

3. New laptop also has Norton Protection (previous laptop had McAfee)

Other points to mention, the ReadyNas is connected to the internet via a netgear switch and the lights on the ReadyNas shows the unit is healthy.

Any help will be appreciated!!

Many thanks

Andrew

Turn off the firewall and see if that helps.

Put the bt home hub in the bin, see if that helps.

Bin is too good for BT Home Hub. I struggled along for 12 months with one of those things with the problems you described as well as other not related to my Hifi. I swapped it for a Netgear router a couple of months ago and no problems since.

Go back to the old router and turn off the firewall.  If it works then, turn back on the firewall.  If it still works . . . you know it is the BT Home router.  That's how I'd go about it

If the ReadyNAS is set to a static IP address and you have changed the router then the router may be using a different DHCP range and therefore the ReadyNAS may no longer be visible on your network...

If you do have the NAS on a static address then pop the ReadyNAS onto your old router, stick your PC onto that router too and then you should be able to see it, set the NAS to DHCP and then pop it onto your new router and you'll be able to see it again.

Cheers

Dear All, Many thanks for taking the time to post a reply.

Phil - Thanks for the help on the DHCP on the ReadyNAS. This was the case! I did an OS reboot and the NAS then appeared on my Network. All is working fine now and the help has saved me pulling my hair out for countless evenings!!!

Thanks again.
