Flu, shingles or chickenpox. Oh great :(

I'm obviously hoping it's just flu, but the blisters are worrying. My parents can't remember if I've had chickenpox before, so all all three are possible. At 49 years old, this could be a right ol laugh.....

Get well soon Tony.

So, completely back to normal then.
All the best Tony. I was lucky enough to catch just about every childhood illness going round in the late 50s. That's how it seemed to be round our way back then. I had measles and chickenpox back to back over a six week period. I remember little about it except my bed being in the living room and the curtains being drawn half the time. Daytime TV was even worse back then than now
My mum had had TB just after I was born so I saw the Green Lady at least once a day and she'd stick horrible plasters on my back every time then rip them off next time. Great times. Sounds like an episode of Call the Midwife.
Anyway, take care and get well soon. Hopefully your doc prescribes a ban on crass tasteless unfunny jokes.
Get well soon, Tony!
But make sure your good lady wife knows where the life policy is,
...just in case

Apparently I've post-viral fatigue. Ok, makes sense. I'm still off work. Yep, I can handle that. I'm due back at work on Thursday, so I went for a walk around the village, twenty minutes or so, and I'll be polite here, I'm shattered. I feel almost drunk.
Has anyone else that's had great big grown ups chickenpox been through this?

I feel for you Tony. Your body has justbwon a major battle, and it's normal that it will take a while for you to regroup and feel your best again. Eat well, drink sensibky and rest and in no time you'll be feeling fit again, and better than ou can remember feeling for some time. Just don't push yourself.
If it's any comfort, my arm is still in plaster - the break was worse than they thought - so I still have two more weeks of irritation and all the things that are difficult or impossible with only one arm, which include playing a record, and using a corkscrew. In my case this is pretty close to a possible definition of hell. (Although intercontinental air travel is not much fun either) And it has now gone hot and sunny here so it's getting itchy, and will I'm sure also become smelly soon enough.
Bon rétablissment à toi.

and typing, as you can read from the above, which I can't be arsed to correct...
Yes Tony. My late pox knocked me sideways for about 3 weeks from onset to recovery.
Advice above is sensible.
Best

You're just a bloody shirker Tony Lockhart! They don't breed 'em very tough up your way. You should have been back at work 3 weeks ago. When I was a lad...............
Get well soon mate.
Steve
Is that a fight or flight Tony?
Still. At least it didn't kill me.
Tony: My son just had a case at 47. It was pretty bad for about 2 weeks but now he is nearly over it. One good point--it is my layman's understanding that your immune system "sees" the disease just as it would the vaccine, so I am reading that a recurrence is less likely--though it does happen. Best of luck.
