Allegro Media Server stopped working after OS X upgrade

Posted by: Burgy100 on 09 June 2013

I upgraded my mac yesterday with the latest OS X upgrade and iTunes and straight away my N-stream would not pick up the server. Rebooted everything...no dice. New it must be the upgrade as neither ND5 or OPPO 105 woulbe pick it up. Has anyone else had this problem?

Fortunately I didn/t upgrade yet. Thanks for the posting. Which UPnP server do you use? The UPnP server might be the source of your problem.

I'm trying out several UPnP severs (Majestically, Allegro, Assett) but neither one shows cover art. Any idea what to do?

Playback has been great. Have a look. Cannot help other than that..

I'd try repairing disk permissions, which is easy to do.  If that does not fix it, reinstall the Allegro app, and do another disk permissions repair after the reinstall.

Hi Andelun,

Thought no one would ever respond to question and I thank you for that. Since posting I have gone a long way down the NAIM road! I am completely new to NAIM and now a convert to their sound although some of their setups and connections can be a little quirky!

I can tell you that the allegro server was trashed by the upgrade as I had it running in the background when upgrading OSX and proved this by using my backup to wind OSX back post upgrade and the re upgrading with Allegro Media Server on and off. Turning it off did not trash the server.

Since then I have ditched Allegro and Asset UPnP in favor of EyeConnect, although much to my annoyance support will be discontinued at the end of 2013. I have found this to work very well with all media and also syncs nicely in with my OPPO 105.

Hi Burgy100,

After 1 week of trying several UPnP servers I got Asset UPnP (beta mac version) working with n-stream and cover art showing up. Don't tell me how.

I changed the settings of Asset and n-stream several times without effort. Then closed Asset and when restaring it said it couldn't restart. But then after hours I could get it starting up en it works since then perfectly. So I stick to Asset. It's difficult to say whether it is instability in the UPnP servers or in their collobaration with n-stram. All in one I tend to think several UPnP servers are in one way or another instable. To mention Asset, settings changed take hours before it shows up. So when you in the future expirience troubles with EyeConnect you might give Asset a chance. Greetings, andre
