Ethernet cables

Posted by: Sdan on 12 June 2013

I am purchasing a UnityServe. My router/internet (wall) outlet are 25 feet from where the US will be shelved. Will the sound degrade terribly running a 25' ethernet cable? Someone suggest hooking the US into a Apple AirPort Extreme. This would still requires running the 25' cable from the AirPOrt Extreme to the router.

Suggestions?

No, should make no difference at all, it should work well. Regular electrical 100Mbps Ethernet works at least upto 100m.

I have a 100' CAT6 cable from my router to my ND5 XS. The sound quality is just fine, all the way up to 24/192 audio.

It will make no difference. This is what Cat cable is supposed to do.

no will not make a difference. Ensure you work with Ethernet cable Cat 5e of higher

As all others told you: No difference.

The protocoll is in each case the same and each one will perform good enough in your use case.

Would suggest exercising some care in how you route your 25' run of ethrnet cable.  Past experience setitng up several computer networks suggests avoiding where possible running the cable in close proximity (within 1 or 2 inches) of any major electrical wiring conduits.
