Hockey Nuts - Chicago vs Boston Stanley Cup Final Series, First Time Ever
Posted by: Geofiz on 12 June 2013
Seems that we have a real Stanley Cup Hockey Final this go round. Think it will take all 7 games to decide a winner this time. First time ever that Chicago and Boston have met in a Stanley Cup Final, very surprising given that both teams are Original 6.
Crap...but the Hawks were getting their arses handed to them the entire OT, so it was probably inevitable.
True, and also the home ice advantage will be a factor.
The saying goes that you are not in trouble in a Stanley Cup playoff series until you lose at home, so the Hawks are in a bit of a spot. I hope they can win tonight and regain home ice advantage. Should be a great game.
The Hawks are in tough now. But, same situation in the first game. Have to see if they can come back.
The Hawks are being outplayed pretty much in every aspect of the game - next goal is critical.
Time is running out. Looks like Rask is going to get his 7th shut out at home in the playoffs tonight.
Correction, his 3rd shut out in Boston this playoffs.
He wasn't really challenged - as the crew pointed out, for Chicago it was mostly "one and done" on entering the offensive zone, and the ones were from the angles and were pretty easy saves. Losing Hossa didn't help at all.
I wish Shaw would have killed Marchand at the end, that little f***ing puke.
They're going to have to bring more Wednesday or it's bad news. I won't even get to watch, as I will be officiating 2 hockey games that night.
I'll miss Wednesday's game as well. Daughter's graduation from University that day. Guess we are setting our PVRs and watching later.
Interesting game coming tonight. Teemu Selänne has told the local press here that he believes that Bruins will win the series due to their better defense.
Storylines: The Bruins owned the faceoff circle in Game 3. Patrice Bergeron led all players by winning 24 of 28 drops. Michal Handzus was 0 for 8 against Bergeron. Because the Bruins won 71 percent of their draws, Chicago didn’t start with the puck on most shifts. The Blackhawks couldn’t get their puck-possession game out of mothballs … The Bruins are perfect on the penalty kill through three games. Chicago is 0 for 11 on the power play … Daniel Paille brings a two-game goal-scoring streak into tonight. Paille will be on the third line with Chris Kelly and Tyler Seguin … Jaromir Jagr will appear in his 200th career NHL playoff game, putting him 19th on the all-time list … Dan O’Halloran and Wes McCauley will be the referees. Jay Sharrers and Pierre Racicot will be the linesmen.

Here we go again......
Go Hawks!!
Hope you guys show up tonight!!!
Marc
Just got home from refereeing to see the OT winner by Seabrook in what must have been a wild one.
FYI - the second game I officiated had this kid in it - home for the summer & playing on a team with a bunch of college players. Kept my 55 YO legs moving for sure!

And for a Blackhawks connection, when I used to ref the AA league in Dallas, TX, one Al Secord played in the league.
Jeu cinq ce soir!
A lot will depend on the status of Bergeron & Toews for game 6.
And the Bruins are tough at home, but I hope the Hawks end it Monday!
Have a feeling we are going back to Chicago for Game 7. Hell of a game so far. If this goes into overtime tonight all bets are off.
Love it, tie game, heading to overtime, Chicago scores when Chara is on and now taking the lead with 58 seconds left. 2 goals in 17 seconds. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a game, what a series!!!!!!! Long time since there was such a quality Stanley Cup Final. Great effort by both teams through the 6 games.
+ 1 Absolutely brilliant!
Oh well, now it is 3 months until the next NHL Hockey Fix. Time to switch to the CFL for some fast paced Canadian Football.
