Stream spotfy, MOG, Pandora to QUTE

Posted by: Paulie S on 13 June 2013

This may seem like a silly quesion so forgive my ignorance,

Can you wirelessly stream the above to the QUTE? Or, do I need to connect my iPad to the front USB to have access? What's the best way to connect to get highest SQ?

Anyone else use MOG thru the Qute? What's your experience?

Going for audition soon but it's an 8 hour round trip drive so I would like to get as much info as possible before I burn the gas.

(I'm a MOG addict) and soon to be a Naim owner once I decide on the unit I want.

Thanks very much,

Until Naim starts supprting Spotify natively, the best quality will come from a device wired to the Qute. Squeezebox Touch, Mac Mini, and Sonos all will play Spotify.  Connect any of the three via digital cable to the Qute.  The advantage of these over the iPad idea is they can be wired to your network for  more reliability.  If your wireless is solid, the iPad should sound pretty good, though.

Or ......

Assuming you can use the Naim radio services with the Qute you can set up a radio channel pointing at a Linux PC in your home. On this you can then broadcast any music source on the PC and stream it locally to the Qute.

I posted a thread on this a few weeks ago - just to see if it could be technically achieved. I set up a playlist via Spotify and played it through my system via the NS01.

Is this a convenient and usable solution? Not really, but it IS free and do-able.

Have I bothered since I did it ......no.

Confusing, the way I said that.  You would need to add an Apple TV or AirPort Express wired to the Qute to throw content wirelessly from the iPad.  Without either, you need to wire the iPad to the Qute; but there is still a wireless leg, from the iPad to your network.

Wired all the way, except for remote control, is the way to go, if you can.

I wirelessly stream from my iPad to a bluetooth music receiver (made by Rocketfish) which, in turn, is connected by Toslink to my Naim network player. Works really well -- decent sound quality at 320kbps, and no dropouts.

Thanks to all. I will investigate the Rocket Fish also thinking Apple TV hooked directly to digital input.

Wow, this audio thing is much more complicated than ever before. Much more fun though. I am still amazed that for $9/month I can have access to millions of songs and albums. I get very ADD with my music sometimes. Yesterday went from a Frank album straight to the new Vampire Weekend with a simple mouse click.

Thanks again, and happy friday to all.
