I have a question re upsampling. In the Qute manual it says that the Qute has two modes available:
(1) native
(2) 24/96 (I suppose that it may be 24/192 for Qute 2?)
If the setting is limited to 24/96, what happens to bit rates that are higher? Will they be downsampled to 24/96?
I have several Rolling Stones albums @ 24/176 and very few albums @ 24/192.
Best wishes,
Peter

Hi Peter
No, the higher bitrate files will not play and a 'Can't play' message will be displayed. Ideally you would have a server that could down sample the files, Foobar is capable of doing this if I remember correctly; you would need to check to be sure.

FWIW, you don't need a Qute2.
The last year or so's worth of Qute1's have had a 24/192 board and older ones (mine included) can have this upgrade.

I think the native or 24/96 to which you refer relates to the digital output of the Qute into another device

Exactly: digital out.
I own a Metrum Octave that alledgedly sounds better when fed upsampled files. So if there was a way for the Qute (used as streamer only) to upsample redbook to 24/96 and to leave all other resolutions as "native" that would be great.
I am still waiting for a versatile Naim streamer to sit with my choice of DAC (wink at Phil Harris)!
Best wishes,
Peter
