ND5 XS Connection

Posted by: The Meerkat on 22 June 2013

Please could anyone advise...I will soon take delivery of a ND5 XS. It's my intention to hook it up to my Supernait. I understand that the best way, is to use the Din connection, utilising the better quality DAC on the ND5 XS.

The Din inputs on the Supernait are CD in, Tuner in, Tape in/out, AV in/out and Aux 2/power out. Am I able to connect the ND5 XS to either of these?

Many thanks

Hi - yes - I use the Aux2 on my 282 to connect my NDAC.

Why Not the First One?

My NaitXS does not have all that many inputs, and I just use "Tuner" for my NDS.

Ragman, I seem to remember that when I was setting up automation (on the NDX), the Naim presets had the NDAC as AUX2, so I left it that to keep the config simple. Of course the automation menus allow you to configure the NDAC to appear on any of the 282 pre inputs if you so wish.

Hi Simon -

Some here have claimed that the CD input sounds best. If that input is free on your 282, I would be interested in whether or not you can hear a difference versus AUX2 using your NDX->DAC/555PS.

I moved my NDS from AUX2 to CD and...well, actually, if you think you will try this in the not too distant, I will hold back on my impressions (if any ) of this change, and await to hear yours first.

Thanks and cheers from hot, muggy Minneapolis, where it could as late as Wednesday before our electrical service is restored.   Thank goodness my iPhone can serve as a mobile cellular hotspot. Of course, keeping everything charged has been a challenge (am using both solar and alkaline battery-based USB chargers, as well as my car charger) and, predictably, all stores within a hundred miles have sold out of generators!

ATB.
