Playing from an iPhone into an NDS ?

Posted by: Michel Werner on 29 June 2013

Hello,

I am still getting acquainted with the functionalities of my two weeks old NDS. It plays wonderfully and will be soon paired with Proac K6 (I look forward to it!). I have set it up so that n-Stream can control the preamp (282/HC) and the CDX2.

I was now trying to make it stream music from my iPhone using the USB front entry. It doesn't work. I can't make the NDS recognize the iPhone as an USB key. Is that possible at all? It might be fun to have that possibility so that people coming around could stick their iPhone an play their own music. I have a party tonight! But apart from that, it is not absolutely essential.

Can anyone help?

Best,

Michel

I'm not sure the NDS supports playback from iPhones/iPods.

Isn't that restricted to the Uniti range?

If the music are from within the iphone and you are playing it with cable connection to the NDS, it should play. It won't if you are streaming the music from a remote location using an app.

Thank you for your answers. I guess I just won't use it because the DAC in the iPhone is so poor and the USB does not work. Connecting with a jack kind of defeats the purpose of getting a good sound out of the iPhone.

I have tried Airplay with iPhone and an Apple TV or Airport Express into a UQ optical input. It sounds great!

Yes, but cost 3 times more. If you don't use the Apple TV 3. But you need less experince as with the Rasperry
