Hello Bruce

Just received an e-mail from the Royal Marsden to say that this years walk raised over £1 million. Thanks again for sponsoring me for the 14 mile walk.

Some good pictures are on their website, just google     Marsden March 2013    if you get time.

Not sure i would do it again,2 years ago we did it in glorious sunshine, this year nearly all of the 14 miles was in the bloody rain.

Thanks again

Excellent work!

The pictures look good, if a little damp.

Thanks for letting me know. MacMillan Cancer Care are 'our' charity for various things we get up to etc from both exposure at work (my wife is an oncologist of sorts) and also experience (her again unfortunately).

Royal Marsden do a good job

Well done Mista h, a very worthy cause. I ran the London Marathon for the Marsden (in 1989) & raised a goodly sum too.

Nice one H. Didnt know you were involved. 14 miles is a challenge worthy of finding or good causes.

Well done

Are you now back from hols Paul ? I will restart sending you some more items for posting.

Some will need reworking slighty   (a lot) to pass RD scruitany.

Well done and kudos for working to raise money for a good cause.

I find the recent (10 years or so) surge in charity races/fondos/sportifs/rides/climbs/treks etc all a bit odd. Shouldn't we give to charity in any case? Why is the "please donate to my chosen charity because I'm running a marathon (or climbing Kilimanjaro)" any more compelling than "donate to my chosen charity because your money will really help others"?

By the way, I donate to all my friends to take it upon themselves to raise money for worthwhile causes. I just don't see what the sporting event brings to the table.

Why does MistaH send things for CBR600 to post?

I had not missed their absence till this post.

Cringing already ...

Please have mercy on the rest of us and simply share them between your two good selves ...

I have particular concerns how much of the money raised ends up paying for the logistics of the expedition rather than ending up with the charity for some of these events.

We don't sponsor many people for this sort of stuff in truth, preferring to make regular donations to our chosen charities. We also nominate charities and ask friends and family to donate in lieu of birthday or Xmas gifts to us; a concept my family certainly don't actually 'get' but never mind!

So it's not just me then!!!

On your first point George.........you don't suppose they're really one and the same person, and there's just a subtle piece of blame shifting going on here.......surely not?

Aw ra best,

Dave.

Don't get personal George, you of all people !

Dear Paul,

Nothing personal, but only a perfectly sensible question.

Now I have your attention why does MistaH send you things to post here, when he has posting rights, and could perfectly well post them himself?

It's a fair question, and given the cringe-factor of the resulting posts deserves an answer.

Even you admit that people will be cringing as we speak. LOL.

And MistaH admits the some editing will be required to please RD [presumably Richard Dane].

To be quite blunt, some of you editing so far has been insufficiently strong.

If MistaH wants such stuff posted, then please just let it come directly from him, and if he feels unable to do so then, in that case, it will not appear at all, which I am sure is something that I and some others here would be pleased by. By the guys who you hear cringing as we speak, and you are right.

There are many posts from people who have problems posting on this site wth items such as pictures, etc.

I'm just an obliging chap thats happy to help a colleague.

As the forum is frequented by a very diverse group, then the compaints of a few outspoken should not  prevent pisting, as there are many who are happy to see varied listings.

It is challenging to understand why some pople think they have the right to dictate to others what they should post on the forum.

Live and let live

The world would be a much happier place if people were less critical, and maybe a little more tolerant of each other

Right.

A few points,

Firstly, you seem more interested in the cringing of others than the entertainment of them. You post makes that clear, and therefore I draw the conclusion that your posts on another's behalf are far from a service, in that they are actually a form ofgleefully wishing to cause displeasure.

Secondly, no one except the administrators have the power to control the posts here, though they may be prompted to act if posts are reported. But if you post drivel, then it is open to anyone who feels inclined to challenge you for doing so. Just as it is free for you to post rubbish, then it is free for me to challenge you, to ask for explanations and motivations ...

Thirdly, as far as I can see all that you have done is post plain text for MistaH, so I cannot see that there can possibly be any issue for MistaH to post such text himself, as he posts in plain text without problem  Your explanation does not stand scrutiny.

Now we have engaged in some plain speaking please save yourself the dubious self-satisfaction of gleefully causing others to cringe, just to satisfy you apparently rather strange motivations.

What a lot of cobblers!

Paul, that's insulting the intelligence of a lot of people around here.

I've always read some of your posts with interest but lately,......

Dearest George

Let me answer all your questions/complaints/moans/groans etc, etc. Me and computers just dont get on,and TBH i have so much going on at the moment that i dont have the time to sit down and work out how to post pictures on this M/B. Paul has been kind enough to post several items for me.I dont consider some of the pics inthe old or nice photo sections bad at all. As for items in the JOKES section i would say to anyone who doesnt like them dont read them and move on to something else.

My other half is brilliant on computers, before she retired she used to design software for IMB mainframe computers for several Banks & blue chip companies,BUT in her own words she refuses point blank to help me on as she puts it....a stupid message board.

Hope this goes someway to answering your niggles.

You should have listened to your other half. Look what  you've done to poor old Paul

Please can you two get your heads round the basic principle of "less is more"' , and maybe the "is this beyond schoolboy humour" filter should be applied?

The sheer volume of your "jokes" posts has, for many of us, become exhausting, to the point where I hesitate to access the "latest jokes" topic, lest I encounter, yet again, a full page of your latest glee.

Get out more, stop posting.

Yours respectfully,

Dave.

George....Its me again, tomorrow i will send Paul some pics under the heading...beautiful things in this world. if Paul would be kind enough to post them(20 odd pics) please do come back and let me know what you think of them.   TTFN

Dear MistaH,

It goes nowhere near answering my points, except concerning photographs. If you can post in plain text as in the post immediately above, then why the need for a relay system via Paul?

Your other half is right, the Forum is indeed becoming a stupid message board with your cringe inducing joke contributions via Paul.

As for posting pictures, I agree that it is troublesome, and in the past I have asked friends to put up pictures for me. That is a service, and the resulting pictures illuminated the threads concerned in a way that was designed to entertain, and be widely enjoyed. I await your pictures in a positive way, unlike my thoughts about another thirty jokes posted from you by Paul ...

Wishing to post stuff that might fall fowl of RD, and the glee shown by Paul in his  the guys who are going to cringe  comment - I am afraid in that post he dropped his guard enough for your game to be rumbled - is no service at all, but actually is part of the reason so many good people no longer post here.

Re-posting jokes in dubious taste is no service to anyone, and is as pathetic as the the most childish behaviours of the primary school play ground. I bet that I could get something similar by googling, "jokes in poor taste," "kindergarten humour," or some such. There is no shortage of rubbish on the net.

Hi again,

Maybe if you spent more time more time listening to your music, rather than spend what seems to be, to me, most of your waking hours dragging the rest of us into so called " jokes", cut and pasted from your mate, forcing us to scroll down entire pages, until we find something vaguely "funny' then your world would  be a happier place.

Stop it! There's more to life than posting on this forum, it's all about the music, at the end of the day, surely?

Respectfully,

Dave

Richard

I think this topic would be best closed down,as i started it as a Thank You to Bruce for his Marsden sponsorship. It has now somehow got silly and well off topic.
