The hire plate letter/colour are Guernsey I believe (black on yellow). I couldn't see the AY on the other car on my phone. Jersey are silver on red (sad I know this). So that is a Guernsey registered hire car...

Braye Beach Hotel

"H" hire car plate is Guernsey or Alderney  Alderney cars are registered in Guernsey

Is the beach Platte Saline  ???

Posted on: 10 July 2013 by Don Atkinson

Spot-on Mike. You must know the place ?

The white buildings in the first picture comprise the Divers Inn and the Braye Beach Hotel.

The beach in the "Overall view" is indeed the Platte Saline. (fortunately, you can't read the warning signs on the beach !)

Cheers

Yes Don I know Alderney well.

Platte Saline has a real dangerous tidal rip current,  when its running its impossible for a swimmer to maintain headway.   So I guess your warning signs is about that.

Nice thread Don. Even though i id not know he location, it was nice watching it develop.

Maybe others could post on a similar basis for all to try and guess

That's what I was hoping.

I have a couple more lined up, but thought I'd wait and see who else has place pictures that might inspire or resurrect memories.

cheers

Come on Don,  looks like no other takers,  so lets see 'em

I am off on a 4 week trip in September & will be very disappointed if I don't get some pics of a particular thing.  It will be a test of old fashioned navigation skills to get near the location & earn deep respect to get within 100km.

Watch this space from early October.

Where's this then?

Has a connection to my line of work.

Burgundy?

Posted on: 17 July 2013 by rodwsmith

I realise it is a very wine-y picture in some ways. Apologies.

The mist is very important, as is the architecture, clue-wise.

More eastern, the onion dome, is it not?

Photo was taken at sunrise, not sunset.
