Where is this ?

There should be enough cues in this and the next two pics for somebody to pin down the location....?
Looks like it's Southampton Road , Salisbury!
And the (unispiring !!) Summit might also have helped.
The views from the road summit were obscured by haze, so although you could see the Lake District mountains (behind you !), taking photos seemed a waste of time. And i'm not convinced at all by the AA assessment that the road down from the Summit is one of the 10 best road journies in the WORLD !!

I think it is just super-dooper that you Brits think of places like this as "summits". I guess we should all make the most of what we have. Trip adviser reviews of the "summit" cafe are a bit mixed. Filithy, stinking, rude staff with very bad (undrinkable) coffee seems the current consensus. OK, maybe the reviews aren't mixed, just accurate.

I like the summits over here, just off to Jasper in three weeks :-)

Nice. Enjoy.

although its not a good photo, it obviously looks better in flickr at full resolution.
Appart from the cathedral, you can easily pick out the Naim factory and office block just to the left (south west) of the bend in the railway line.
With a large magnifying glass I believe I can see Paul S, Doug G and Roy G finalising diagrams for a £995 500-Series-beating integrated system incorporating streamer, CD, Blu-Ray DVD, tuner and turntable complete with speakers. The secret ingredient to this unbelievable future success story is the use of locally sourced Chewed & Freyed internal cableing.........

I didn't visit the cafe, its external appearance suggested the interior might well fit your description !

Winky, Timbo,
Jasper ! nice. Maligne Lake and the Skyline Trail ? or the Tonquin Valley ?
Of course you have higher and far more attractive road summits than we do. Even Rogers Pass looks sublime. I once managed to "coast" from the petrol station (shortly after it closed for good) down to Golden with the Low Fuel light glowing in our previous RAV4. The 58 litre tank took a good 59 litres to refill ! Mrs D is off to Calgary tomorrow then driving down to Vernon on Wednesday/Thursday taking in visits to Lake Louise and Emerald Lake as well as seeing Rogers Pass yet again.
Two of the most memorable summit routes I have crossed were in the NW USA. The Going-to-the-Sun road through Glacier National Park (very picturesque) and the route (Highway 212 ?) from Yellowstone to Red Lodge en route to Little Bighorn (over 10,000')
Still, our Canadian in-laws enjoyed the Kirkstone Pass and Honister, depite their lack of elevation.
Cheers

The answer within 1km is all in the numbers ..........
A bit of fun to test your navigation triangulation skills.

The Cape of Good Hope/Cape Point Mike?
Hate to give you too many clues Kevin, but you are about 90 degrees off course.
I have checked the distances & with a compass & a not too big map they do triangulate to the photo location.
Riebeek West, Malmesbury, Western Cape, South Africa
Must get out more...
You need to get out more with a sharper pencil Tony
You too are 90 degrees off course

West Coast National Park?
No H - you too are also 90 degrees off beam
Given the common sense that it must be SA - as you all have - being a little more NESW aware & a regional map that has a km scale & a drafting compass is all you need,
Honest, the answer is really in the picture & you really do not need to be that familiar with the region at all.
Mike,
I'm using an i-pad and sitting on a mountain in the Rockies having lunch with a beautiful view, but I noticed your post a couple of days ago and kept wondering where in SA your signpost might be.
Rough scaling using the i-pad and my Silva, and using only the 92km from Cape Town and the 1,241 km from Jo'berg suggests somewhere just South of Hermanus, e.g. Walker Bay.
When I get back home later today I'll have a more careful look.
Nice one
Don
Given the vagaries of exactly where the two city centres are .....
..... you won the cigar Don.
It on the Corner of Marine Drive & Harbour Road by the Old Harbour in Hermanus.
I was sitting in the restaurant garden on that corner & looking at the sign post I thought now that is a forum "Where is This" with a difference for some keen navigator to have a go at.
Apart from the classic draft compass method it can also be found easily with Google Earth using the line drawing tool.
The big clue of course is Cape Town at 92km means it has to be in SA
Run a 6185km line up from the South Pole it shows you are at the south coast around S34:24'
Then draw a line 92km out from CTN and a 1241km line from JHB & they meet at Hermanus.
As it happens the CTN JHB & South Pole lines are around 120 degree apart, so its hard to be off course as can happen with acute angles.
Like I said, with the vagaries of where you place the city centre line start point, my Google triangulation ended up just over 1km north of the sign post spot.
