The Ashes 2013(4)

Posted by: Bruce Woodhouse on 10 July 2013

Nervous times for English fans...bding favourites never feels comfortable.

Seems to me if the Aussies get a bit of momentum they might do rather better than is prediced. The bowlers look fiery if a bit raw and Watson and Clarke have clear class as batsmen.

I still think we will win but it will be a good fight through the summer.

Bring it on!

Cook and Root looked pretty untroubled in the final session of today. If that continues for the first couple of hours on Friday morning I agree a draw seems the most likely result.

Day 4, Yawn..............

4-0, 3-0, 3-1 Who cares, England outplayed Australia in more sessions that counted - the end.

Well, will we have an interesting final session after all? England set 227 to win within 44 overs. Now if this was a ODI it ought to be achievable.

Half-way there, 8 wickets in hand, 18 overs to come, and Pieterson looks in the mood. This test is alive again.

21 to win in 4 overs

Bad light stopped play

We wuz robbed

But to be fair,  it was a great days entertainment

Shame is on ICC,  the umps work on the light reading,  the rules suck, common sense should have taken the game to the finish.

Yep, I agree about the rules that prevented an exciting game reach a positive outcome. That said, a lot of credit has to go to Michael Clarke who created the possibility of a positive result.  Well done, Michael.

Well done Clarke for setting up a great day, and England for taking it on.

Hard to tell from the TV but since the rules placed Bad Light exclusively in the hands of the Umpires I guess the ''correct' decision was taken. it just happens to be one you could not imagine in any other sport.

England 7/10 for the series. Some class, some strugglers, some promise. Need to freshen up for the winter, and get a bit of fire back.

Australia 5/10. Notable individual battlers, Harris a real threat if he is fit, Warner the sort of player who may be devastating on hard Aussie wickets.

Stil there is no game like Test cricket.

Played my last match of the season now too with some holiday coming up. The summer is officially over.
