Perfect setup: DAC-V1 into Qute or Qute into DAC-V1?

Posted by: Lorenz on 10 July 2013

Hi there,

I'm quite unhappy with my DAC-V1...

It sounds wonderful when connected exclusively to my NAP-100 outputting music that comes straight from my mac mini.

BUT – I'm still trying to find the PERFECT (or at least best) setup to connect it to my Unitiqute.

What drives my crazy is redundance of remote controls and the impossibility to control both together via N-Stream...

Questions, questions, questions...

Qute in to DAC-V1 or the other way DAC-V1 into Qute?

Digital out? Analog out?

Fixed volume at the Qute? Fixed Volume at the DAC-V1?

Digital volume control from the mac mini (DAC-V1 could do that)

Would be happy to learn which way some of you do it!

Cheers,

Lorenz

Qute into DAC-V1.

You already have a streaming preamp. I assume the Qute is on the same network and able to read from the same NAS (so in effect a second system with same library privileges)

The PC has it's own music and this is replayed through the DAC/NAP/Harbeths?

I'd have a Qute/DAC-V1/NAP100 set-up with dig. out from the Qute (I think that's fixed level) also dig. out from mac connected to DAC and use the DAC exclusively for volume / source. Hope that helps!
