Mercedes 1954 F1 car for $22 million. Is is Art?

People have been paying this sort of money or more for so called "works of  art".

Is this car really worth that sort of money?

P.S. Apologies to Howard. Did not  think it would be fair to post it on  your F1 thread.

If I'd won the euromillions twentyfold rollover I'd have been bidding. It's bloody gorgeous.

The one on the hill as that was announced being driven by Mr Moss is worth way more - being works and just restored by the factory.

Is it worth it?

My guess the owner is grinning, not grimacing.

It's original, in private hands and bloody gorgeous.

Driven by Fangio to victory, untouched and unrestored, found in a warehouse where it had remained from its last race.
