xld & unicode

How well does XLD work with unicode? I tried to use utf 8,16,etc but it still outputs funny characters song, artist names, etc. where the names contain extended characters such as umlaut, etc.

I assume you are talking about editing metadata. I have not had problems with extended characters (umlauts, etc) using XLD.

However, I stopped editing metadata with XLD. I just rip CDs and use something else to edit metadata (Metadatics from the Apple App Store).

No, i tend not to edit metadata, all the European song/artist names get appended with some unreadable characters for some reason. It must be something with the way I configure it.

What are you trying to edit then? It can't be the audio itself. That's binary data.

Nope, I am not editing anything at all.

The output filenames just have some strange characters.

OK. Can you see the correct characters in the track names in XLD? If so, this might be an issue with the character set your operating system uses to display filenames. Mac OS by default should handle that correctly.

I have lots of classical music I rip with XLD to my Mac, and have no issues displaying extended characters in the filenames.

XLD only runs on Mac, right.
Btw, my mac & xld are of the latest version, iTunes never has this problem, it just works but I want to get away from iTunes..
This is strange!

XLD is Mac OS only. I have never had the problem you mention and I have ripped hundreds of CDs.
