Upgrading the software on a UnitiServe - an idiot's guide

Posted by: hungryhalibut on 18 July 2013

When it comes to computery, I'm a bit of an idiot. So here is how I did in, in easy language.

Burn the discs.

Stick the first one in the US.

After a minute or so it will be spat out.

Remove the disc completely.

After about 15 minutes, the logo will flash repeatedly.

Wait for it to stop flashing.

Put the US into shutdown mode and then turn it off.

Wait a minute.

Turn it on again.

The logo will flash for quite a while.

When it stops flashing, check in the old DTC that it is now at 1.6g.

Put in the second disc.

After a little while, it will be spat out.

Remove the disc completely.

After 15 minutes or so, the logo will start flashing. The flashing lasts longer this time.

(after about 10 minutes, the logo flashed once. I ignored this and waited, which was the right thing to do).

When the logo light becomes solid, put the US into shutdown mode and turn it off.

Wait a minute.

Turn it on again.

The logo will flash for quite a while. Don't panic.

When the logo is solid, uninstall the old DTC, and install the new one from the second disc.

Check in the new DTC that the server software is now at 1.7a.

Pat yourself on the back - job done.

I do hope this is helpful.

I know what you shouldn't see on the CD-R and that is a copy of the folder exactly as it appears on your PC before you do the burn.  This is what I was seeing on the CD-R after I thought I'd burned it - until Steve Hopkins put me right and I went more carefully through the burn process.

i didn't look at the contents when it was correctly done, sorry.

Try right clicking the folder on your PC and see if it offers 'burn to disc' - the other thing is to Youtube 'burning iso file to disc in windows 7' there's a tutorial or two on there.

Good luck (again!)

Would anyone like to provide an idiot's guide to downloading an burning the update CDs? I have wasted a box of CD-R's at this stage, with no success.

Thanks, David

Thanks Graeme (and sorry for spelling your name incorrectly before). I had already watched this but my PC defaulted to a different Disc burner when I tried it, but it should give the same result. What I really want is for someone to tell me what files should appear on the burned Disc. Is there some kind of unzipping process required after downloading?

Thanks Graeme. I'm coming to the conclusion that the US just doesn't want to be updated!

I have contacted my dealer who is talking to Naim.
