Tindersticks

One of those 'if you like this..the try this' links has got me from Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave and Lambchop to Tindersticks. I'm obviously feeling a bit morose and self-absorbed but hey, I'm working on it.
Tindersticks II I'm really enjoying after getting cheap off Ebay. Anyone familiar with their extensive and lengthy career like to direct me to other hits (and misses) to try?

The second Tindersticks album is one of my favorites, maybe Curtains next.

I really like The Hungry Saw from a couple of years ago. It would be my go to Tindersticks album.

My favourite of theirs is the debut album. An embarrassment of riches and along with Maxinquaye and Grace, one of the best debuts of that decade.
Rawer than later albums, and bursting full of ideas and versatillity, from the Morriconesque 'Her' to spoken narritives, Waitsian instrumentals, lush orchestrated pop and woodwind quartets. Contains 3 marvellous singles. A Melody Maker album of the year 1993.
Along with the other albums recommended, I also really like 'Simple Pleasures' their fourth - with it's nod to vintage soul ( Green/ Redding/Booker T ) .
Managed to see them a few times live. Their last album is meant to be a return to form, but I haven't got round to hearing it yet.

I love the Tindersticks and my fave album depends on the day of the week.
My partner thinks the vocal is very like Vic Reeves in a "club style" though.....

One of my fravourite Tindersticks albums is their 1996 soundtrack to the claire Denis film "Nenette et Boni". Mostly instrumental with the only real vocal track being their best (of many versions) of Tiny Tears. Very atmospheric. Another one to chase down is the latest realease of the aforementioned Tindersticks II because it is bundled with the superb live album "Live at the Bloomsbury Theatre".
