Football 2010/11 part 2

Gives me a chance to swap banter with Jet down the road, and keep up to date with the pain of being an Ipswich fan. Just Spurs to overcome tomorrow, so plain sailing really.

Barcelona say their referee is not for sale at any price.
No surprise, it was their most valuable player.

We played in the world cup, new blood needed!
What fine examples ?

Good day out at Wembley , unfortunately the Brentford team failed to turn up.
How did Spurs play yesterday?
Talking about crazy goals, this one after 30 seconds by Stankovic was quite something:
LeBron goes soccer
"Over the past two decades, soccer has become increasingly popular in the United States. Beginning with the 1994 World Cup, American sports fans have steadily come to understand that players are full of engaging style even if there aren't a ton of goals, and that a draw can be just as exciting as a victory. These days, there are enough casual soccer fans that a mid-week broadcast of a Champions League match or a big weekend game between two English Premier League clubs can get a pretty solid TV rating in this country.
In fact, the sport is popular enough here that an athlete investing in a successful soccer club can be seen as a pretty intelligent business decision rather than some questionable entrance into foreign enterprise. So it should not be a terrible surprise that Miami Heat star LeBron James(notes) now owns part of the legendary Liverpool Football Club."

Didn't realise Man U took their ref to away matches as well!!

Karma makes a down payment. You're not happy enough with every major decision for the last 6 or 7 seasons? Wonder if John Terry will get a ban for running towards the linesman/referee's assistant and shouting "Fcking hell ref" - heard loud and clear on the broadcast
Talking of Karma and swearing:
It's two for Roo - some may see it as Karma; it was foolish to expect common sense from an organisation that is responsible for the Burton mess, beyond a joke regarding contract negotiation, run like an old boys club, and with UEFA and FIFA is a major cause of disrepute. If Manchester United get through and win the FA Cup, collect the cup, face the FA, do a Harvey Smith - flicking the V, then turn and lift the cup.

Slightly more reason for it than being so stupidly angry at having just scored?

That particular incident, no, no reason for John Terry to do it. Whether vaild or not, Rooney wasn't angry at scoring, it was the camera trying to butt in.
Unlike league games - no comeback - and three of the quarter-final teams, Chelsea still have a reasonable chance.
