uniti - spotify

Posted by: Wee Man 69 on 22 January 2011

I realise this has been covered in previous forum topics, hoewever since the forum changeover, I am unable to locate relevant thread / answers.
Is it possible to stream spotify ( premium ) to Naim Uniti ?
Having much fun / success with new system ( Uniti - Apple TV - NAS - PS3 ) but would love to be able to utilise HD streaming from Spotify direct to Unity.
Any advice ?
All pointers greatfully received,
Cheers

Thanks again for your support. There has been some progress : I added DSbridge in the flash folder, and now I can see the blue spot in the task bar, which is a good sign.

The bad news is that I still cannot open my internet radio on the Uniti. And today, despite many trials, I cannot access any more to the naim radio vtuner site, because it keeps saying that I have blocked cookies, which is not true...

I will try again another time (last one). Thanks again.

Hi Ph K

Try a different browser, I had some access problems the other day and I'm pretty sure this is how I solved the problem.

Hi PH K,
Any luck with Spotify? If you have a blue dot you're almost there. It will only turn green when you start playing a track on your PC. Then the Uniti picks it up from the PC and defaults to Upnp at which time you lose volume on the PC but pick it up on the Uniti. It really should work now.

Hello,

Thanks a lot, birdie339, for your attention.

No, I could not manage to hear Spotify on my Uniti with Ds bridge.Very frustrating.

But the good news is that I read Naim's post on the subject  suggetsing to install the  Asset UpnP program. That's what I made. And in ten minutes, I could listen spotify or i-tiunes music on my Uniti. Thanks a lot to
Paul Stephenson.

Best regards

Hello,

I now have trouble removing DSbridge from my computer. I deleted all the files... but I still can see the small blue dot in the task bar. Except that it is now red, saying that the encoder could not find the lame-enc.dll (which is normal because I removed it also). What should I do ?

Thanks.

I have written a command-line program for Windows that tells the Uniti to play a url, which I wrote as I can't get vTuner to work for me and like the idea of DSBridge. You need to know a couple of bits of information: the ip address of the uniti, the ip address of the machine with DSBridge on it. I am not sure where best to make the program available - can I attach a 1.5mb zip file to the forum or do I need to find a free web host? I know that Naim are careful about some of the content they let on the forum so I am not sure if they would be okay with a link to the program at all.

BTW: I am working on a GUI version which would be easier to use - and might help with the issues around getting DSBridge started properly. I haven't tried the Asset upnp approach but I would think it captures all sound card activity, including MSN messages / bells / alerts whereas DSBridge only captures Spotify. I would like DSBridge to support PCM/FLAC streams rather than re-encode them as MP3 so I am working on that too.

Thanks, it would be very interesting if you could achieve this.

Just for info I can confirm that the latest version of Adobe Flash (10.2.152.26) does not interfere with the playing of Spotify on the Uniti.
