"The one bright spot is that CD prices could rise over the medium term as dedicated CD buyers have fewer outlets to choose from."

It depends on which side of the counter you stand on.

I suspect that Flac will increasingly become the way to get music to then burn to CD or add to a distributed audio setup, for those who care about quality.
