Fox News geography, or the lack of it.

Just in case you needed any proof how stupid Fox News actually is.

Not Again??!! I thought Fox made the same cock-up a while back. Unbelieveable...

Ok I'll respond on behalf of those of us challenged in terms of geography and current middle eastern affairs.
I suspect I'm not seeing the wood for the trees but I've stopped watching the news as it just depresses me.
Why does this show how stupid Fox News actually is?

Still, explains a lot. No WMD? Looked in wrong country. Simples. Anyone checked under The Pyramids? "Looking for Iran? Sure, hit The Persian Gulf, take a left and you can't miss it. Give my regards to the Mongolian hords while you're there".

you see.................and I always thought that 'Fox' and 'News' in the same sentance were simply a contradiction in terms!

Sorry, but whats wrong ???
I am afraid this is sort of typical of a general US awareness of places outside the the US
- but before all our very worldly wise US friends jump on me, it is not true of all.
I was once having a few drinks with works buddies in US. We were discussing the old "outlaws", Billy the Kid et al & we got round to Butch Cassidy & Sundance & that they ended up in Bolivia. 5 out of 6 did not know where Bolivia was, 3 were convinced it's in Europe.
But having said that, how many brits know where some US states are.
If a BBC news graphic showed New Mexico were Arizona is, who would notice

Gotta say I struggled placing all the 'stans North of India on a map a while back, but no-one else in the room got therm all right either.
But then I'm not a worldwide news producer reporting on factual events purporting to educate and inform citizens of the biggest superpower on the planet...among others

It's fair point but "we" Europeans do have a higher passport ownership than the US.
I understand why, they can go to almost any type of climate, scenery without leaving their homeland.
No messing about with currency exchanges, visas and I assume jabs.
I reckon I'd do better with US states, than the 'stans, there seems to be a new one every month.

Asking a lot of Americans where New Mexico is will get a lot of confusing answers - a lot think it is part of Mexico ie south of the border.
It is not unusual for mail addressed to New Mexico to be shipped to Mexico and then shipped back to NM.
New Mexico is the only state that has the words United States on its car license plates.

I may have difficulties in telling exact borders of one or two of Italy's smallest regions.. As the new Governor of Piemonte had when asked about Piemonte's borders.
Yet, could the picture shown in the thread's head post be a fake of some kind? This is not to defend Fox (I don't watch television much, anyway), but it seems strange to me that a major broadcaster doesn't do documentation. Don't they have atlases in studios?

I see my 89 yo folks every week, after dinner they watch Fox News I just head to my bedroom and watch PBS with BBC-A and Lehrer Nightly news, no commercials, no screaming or talking over each other. They warn you when something might be ugly to watch. Very civilized discussions.
I've always wondered why Fox has such an awful news channel and they have these outrageous cartoons and other comedy on their entertainment channel. Well it's all pretty awful
I have had a few years of not turning on the news but once a week, everything is so awful these days it depresses me.

Must say I think it is a pity Fox are covering the Superbowl this year, their coverage, comentators and general ability to produce a television sports programme is greatly inferior to the other networks.
3 hours of Aikman and thingy being macho, and Siragussa sya 'yeah I used to do that' on the sideline.
Where is John Madden when you need him?
