Anyone seen or heard Thunderclap Newman yet?

I'm planning to disconnect my router and phone-line as well as the system tomorrow.

Careful with those DACs Eugene.

Hello John, I'm turning mine off tonight. Although its 28 degrees in my flat there's a nice cool breeze at the moment so could mean something's on its way. Heard some machine gun fire earlier but no thunder yet. I live next to some ranges so get gun fire going off quite alot. It looks like we'll be in for some cooler weather by the weekend which is great news. Thanks, Mike

Yes indeed; a lovely shot Tony.

A chap I know who lives in rural Suffolk, had a lightning strike travel up the earth (and thus The Earth too) which fried his 500.

In the words of Michael Jackson (Gawd rest his soul) - "Aooww".

Just how likely is it that lightning will zap home electronics?

On a scale of 1-10  with 10 being the most likely.

Fortunately the chances of Naim kit being damaged in a local lightning strike are slim, with a greater chance in a rural area. Case fuses DO NOT protect equipment because damaging high voltage can travel up the earth.

It's just common sense to play safe during storm activity and follow Naim's pertinent advice which is contained in every manual.

I've still got mine powered down. Hope to have it all warmed up and ready to go for Sunday when you arrive John.

Eek.  It'd better be performing at its bestest!

A couple of years ago I got hit by a ground strike (not me personally, my house ).

It fried my router, a tv, a digibox and two AV amps.  Luckily my hifi was unaffected.

Now I disconnect at the first sight of a storm!

Thanks Mike,

A nice bottle of the red stuff is always a guaranteed Hi-Fi upgrade.

They do say that a bottle of red is like adding a power supply and I'm very much looking forward to trying this out
