NDX stops playing after two or three tracks

Posted by: Jumping Jack on 24 July 2013

I've recently bought an ex-demo NDX and until yesterday, it played great.

Since yesterday evening it just stops after having played two or there tracks from an album. The buffer just runs empty and then its over... I also tried it with a wireless connection and I have reset it to the factory settings, but still the same occurs. My SuperUniti plays perfectly over the same network so it must be the NDX that is acting up.

anyone else who has had this or anyone with an idea what could be causing this?

It sounds ominous, perhaps a dodgey streamer board or RJ45 connection. What file types are you playing? Wav or FLAC.

Flac, decoded to wav on the nas (using minimserver).

It can't be a network problem since it also happens when using wifi and the SuperUniti plays without any problems...

I've mailed the dealer that sold it to me and am waiting for his response...

I don't know if this could be the solution to your problem but two days a go I had the same problem with my ndx, after a lot of tests I understud that the problem was not in due to the ndx but it was a problem of my router that it was no mor able to asign a correct IP to the Ndx via DHCP.

I just restarted the router and now everything works just fine!

hope it helps.

It gets stranger by the day (but a good kind of strange this time)...

Today I bought a USB to rs232 cable and updated the firmware to 3.17. At the very last moment, the updater stopped and gave an error stating a communication problem, although the update was at 100%. I retried it several times, but every time the same error. So, eventually, I clicked abord. The updater then stated that my device would be unstable and wouldn't work, but was else could I do?

I switched the ndx off and back on again... And know It works flawlessly. And with firmware 3.17.

I don't now what happend, but franckly, I don't really care since I got my music back .

I had problems with my FLAC library after transferring it to my NAS, it corrupted most of the tracks. I was using asset to transcode these tracks to WAV and every time it hit a corrupted file playback would stop part way through the track.

My solution was to start again, ripping everything into WAV in the first place and turn off transcoding.

So I think you could have the odd corrupt track in your library, try playing the same albums that you were playing before and see if it stops again.

The problem is back, so the ndx is going back for service...

J Saville: the SuperUniti plays perfectly in the same network with the same files. As did the ndx for about two weeks...

Did you try to reset your rooter?

In my case all other stuff on my network worked nicely too but the problem was only with the IP assigned to the NDX by my rooter!

yes, I did. If it were a problem with the IP, wouldn't the ndx have already had it two weeks ago? And why after two or three songs?
