Liking a topic
Posted by: TomK on 26 July 2013
I recently got an email informing me that a fellow board member liked a recent topic of mine (The royal baby) but there's no sign of this on the board. Is this another hoopla hiccup or something more sinister?
BookFace has a lot to answer for.
Euuurrggghhhh!
John.
Dare I say its only just slightly less important than the new royal sprog ........ yaaawnnnn
A simple question and dead easy to ignore if it bores you.
I guess that if "Like This Topic" button is clicked twice what happens is that the system sends the email but the board does not show the liking anymore when the topic is viewed (it might possible still be seen in the activity stream of the member who has indicated the liking).
If the email alerts disturb they can be disabled from the Manage/Notification menu (just in case someone does not know this).

Doesn't bore but does mildly irritate. The YouTwitFace baby culture is pervasive and unwelcome.

I tend to agree with you. When did quoting facebook posts become a substitute for reporting news?
(Mucking around on forums isn't all that different to mucking about on facebook, though )
Yeah. I'm wearing my Mr Grumpy hat and after all's said and done, who really cares one way or the other? But it is a discussion forum and as such I will state my view. Not that anyone should care one way or the other.
Having been on message boards, IRC, telnet and forums for going on twenty years, my perception is that the the maturity level continues to drop as fast as the bandwidth increases to fill with yet more infantile nonsense. But I am an old codger. I don't even use the Cloud. I'm still using the Internet. How backwards is that?
