RTI remote control

Posted by: nudgerwilliams on 29 July 2013

Does anybody have experience of using RTI controllers with Naim streaming gear?  I'm getting some new gear and the dealer has recommended these.  Audio will be UnitiServe / SuperUniti in the main room plus UnitiQute in the dining room.  Panasonic TV. Anthem AV receiver. Sky box.  Sony DVD player.

The RTI will control all the AV channel switching, select input used for AV on the SU etc and I'm sure it will be great for that.  Has anybody got experience of using it as a replacement for nStream?

I'll probably go for the RTI iPad app rather than one of their dedicated controllers.

Thanks

ThinkFlood's RedEye products are also a good option–provided that you still plan on using n-Stream for playlist creation and browsing of audio content.

Very few third-party remotes / system controllers can properly handle the amount of data traffic necessary to seamlessly browse your music library, though they should be able to handle simple transport control (play/pause, prev, next, etc.) without a hiccup.

I have been using RTI remotes for the past ten years or so in installations in my homes.

However, I haven't used them with streamers only A/V kit generally, including my aged Naim AV2.

I personally wouldn't choose any other brand of remote as I love the way RTI Just seems to work.

I actually have 3 of them in different set-ups (all AV) & have found them to be great, with the remote codes available for all of my components.

They are dealer dependent though, & a good dealer will be great. A bad one might have you cursing, if he can't set it up perfectly..... (Been there done that)

To be fair, one poor dealer was in Sydney Australia & the other poor one in the UK is no longer trading.

Not sure I am allowed to recommend a RTI dealer on here or if making such a recommendation, might be against forum rules?

My preferred dealer is based in Solihull near Birmingham.
