How many forum members are golfers.

I do find enjoying music on my system a distraction but I do try and play golf at least once a week for the fresh air, exercise and social side. It's also something I can enjoy together with my wife, especially on holiday. I only know of one forum member who plays golf in my area. Are there any others? If there were enough interest perhaps we could have a Naim forum members society day once a year.

Not a golfer myself, but sounds an excellent idea. Golf is an excellent activity from a social perspective. Good luck with it.

Not a golfer, done multiple clinics but can't get to spend the amount of time it would need to play for me on a pleasant level. Perhaps when I will get in the next level of seniority class I will give it a try.

I used to play quite seriously & with an OK'sh handicap.  Plus my old job made it a nice to have activity for getting close to customers all over most parts of the world & I've been lucky to play on courses & in places that most folks can only dream about.

Since retiring - when plans for golf was supposed to include games & 19th activities numbers of times a week - I needed (pun) to have half knee replacements.

Titanium & cross-linked polyester don't take the all body twist of a golf swing so I had to change to a swing that is just upper body.  Yardage has all gone to hell as has some aspects of direction - a miss-hit tends to go way-way off the fairway. Although putting & short game has got better, the upshot is I have not played that often & TBH I don't miss it.  I feel frustrated playing with a fit & able person & hate playing with the old guys - 'erself says I need a reality check as that's where I am at.  I am being serenaded by the bowls club at the moment,  but I have some pride left

Hi Bert,

I didn't start playing until I was 50, mainly because I tore a cruciate ligament and meniscus in my right knee which curtailed any activities involving running and also the children were older giving me more free time. I assume you're younger so there's still time.

Mike,

It's frustrating when you used to be good at something and then an injury, or just old age means you can't compete at the same level. I know where you're coming from.

Sounds like a great idea! The chance to play golf & "talk Naim"!

Where & when?!

Yep try to play most weeks. If it were in reasonable proximity me up here in Edinburgh area I'd be up for it.

If there were only a few people interested I'd be happy to take them on as guests at my club in North Berwick - www.northberwickgolfclub.com

Being in sales, I had the chance to play a lot of rounds in my thirties and forties.  With lessons and endless drilling, I managed to get my index under 5, and was breaking 80 on a regular basis.

Back problems in my fifties have ended my involvement with "the greatest game ever played", so I had my clubs (Ping 1 & 3, Miura irons) refitted for my Godson.  He's a very good athlete, and has the potential to be a very good golfer. It is easy to see the influence of playing hockey on his swing -- he hits a lot of powerful, low trajectory shots.

Still enjoy watching the final rounds of majors on TV, but that's about it these days.  Needless to say, I miss the challenge and camaraderie of golf very much.

PS - I see Tiger's still looking strong today, and it will be interesting to see if he holds on tomorrow.  Even more interesting to see if he can carry something over to next week's PGA at Oak Hill. He's not my favorite pro, and it is hard to forget his personal self-destruction, but there's no arguing that he is still good for the game.  In fact, the best thing that could happen to professional golf would be Tiger winning another major, and rekindling the possibility of catching Nicklaus. We'll see...
