Neil and Crazy Horse cancell tour!

Posted by: FangfossFlyer on 08 August 2013

As reported by Thrashers Wheat:

TOUR DATES CANCELLED

August 8, 2013

For immediate release:

Due to an accident involving Crazy Horse, the remaining dates on the Neil Young and Crazy Horse tour of Europe and the British isles have been cancelled. We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes to our fans or the Festivals where we were scheduled to appear. As you must be, we too are disappointed at this unfortunate turn of events.

-- Neil Young and Crazy Horse

Hope all is well and not too serious.

I was looking forward to seeing them again on this tour but as long as all works out well that is what is important.

All the best to Neil and The Horse.

Speculation on Rust that Poncho may have broken his wrist.

iI I think this is pretty cavalier. How hard is it too replace a band member? I thought Young was better than this - clearly not the regular guy he claims to be.

I don't think he's in it for the money... I rarity these days!

Marou,

it is a Neil Young AND Crazy Horse and not  Neil Young WITH Crazy Horse.....that is the reason I believe.

Kind regards,

Richard

You have it exactly opposite. Neil Young and the members of Crazy Horse have a friendship and musical history going back decades ... what would be truly cavalier would be to just "replace" his injured band-mate as though musicians are faceless interchangeable parts of a machine.

In standing by his band-mates, Neil Young is exactly the regular guy he claims to be.

Very true Fred. They go back a long way and it's not just a musical association. Neil Young was truly affected by Danny Whitten's death. They're more like a family than real families, if you get my drift.

Saw them a few weeks ago and there is a chemistry between the band members you don't see very often in a group, hope Poncho gets better soon.

Customers like me have changed holiday plans, made expensive travel arrangements, and paid a lot of money to see a band which pulls out because one journeyman member is injured and this is acceptable because they're 'more like a family than a real family'? Totally inconsiderate and unprofessional bunch of narcissists more like. 'Irreplaceable'? Give me a break.

I like the word "customer" you use to introduce your case ! You're not a proper fan and I do not feel sorry for you at all! Go  to "ONE ERECTION" concert and you might get your money back if they, god forbid , cancel one of their money making presentations! On second thoughts, not sure if I should have wasted that much saliva on your comments. After typing this, gotta go and wash my hands!

Tony, he is entitled to his opinion. The choice of the word 'customer' was probably given no thought. However, if when you buy tickets from Ticketmaster or wherever you see yourself more as 'a friend of the family' rather than a 'customer' you might as well go to One Direction yourself.

Mark,

Thank you for clarifyfing that. I am not very good at monosyllabic answers and reading your previous posts was somewhat not expecting that kind of contribution.

Please forgve me!

Still stand by my statement!

I'm not very good with monosyllabic answers, either.

And, sure, everyone is entitled to hold an opinion. But that doesn't mean that every opinion is therefore valid.

Are you a member of a band of friends with unique musical personalities and decades' worth of history? Loyalty to and solidarity with one's band-mates is "precious"? That's kind of sad.

I know you've been inconvenienced, but shit sometimes does happen. It can't be helped, the guy has had an accident but instead of wishing him a speedy  recovery you just bitch about him being a "journeyman".

I was due to go to the 02 gig and I'm disappointed, but Poncho isn't just a band member, he's an integral part of CH - and this was after all a CH tour, not just NY.

If you were expecting a lot of acoustic strumming and "Cinnamon Girl" then you would have been disappointed anyway.

The post itself seemed a bit precious. Marou offered his (quite reasonable) perspective and did not need Lord Almighty lectures on the deep bonds which form between guitarists on a musical odyssey of self-love etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DksSPZTZES0

Even if the band are engaged in some form of love-in he has paid his hard-earned and expects a stand-in for one of the bit players. Seems fair enough, he is the paying customer and has incurred losses other than not being able to attend it seems.

PS Neither precious nor drivel are monosyllabic. Just saying like.

Poncho..."for many years, he worked as an engineer on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno under bandleader Kevin Eubanks, running the ensemble's MIDI board" until he retired in 2010.

He's also been with CH since 1975. As well as being the band's rhythm guitarist, he's also NY's backing singer, so a fairly important member I'd have thought.

Neil Young asked him to sit out the recording of Greendale as he was superfluous to requirements.

[Latterly] his proficiency in emerging computer technology allowed him to cultivate a second career with the Young organization that would blossom in the years thereafter.

Dispensable TV show journeyman but decent with computers is the picture I'm getting

Joking aside am sorry you both could not go. Personally did not buy tickets as do not like the last album which presumably is the main basis of the show. Since Poncho himself said he thought this would be their last ever tour just recently I think Marou is right and the old expression holds 'The show must go on.'

The old school entertainers would lose their entire band and an arm/leg before letting the fans down.
