Excuse the simple response, but did you switch off the unit and then switch it on again?

Aside: I could not get the Mac version to work on either a SU or Qute so borrowed a PC.

Ian,

Ah, right, I see your logic now.  I'm sorry, I have no idea which driver you need.  You could try installing everything you can get your hands on (!) which is what I did, though maybe better to call Naim for some advice.

I do not see the SLAB_USBtoUART port in the drop down box with the Superuniti unplugged, but then I'm not sure I would expect to.

Best of luck sorting this out.

Neil, it was a good question I I did reboot the NDX and the MBP a couple of times. Interesting that you could not get the Mac to work either.

Nick, good data point, I will check the NDX as I do recall shutting off every service that I did not need, perhaps one of them is the USB update port.

I had so wanted to avoid taking the NDX out of the rack but I do not have access to a windows laptop. I suspect that this would now be the easiest course.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I am not getting on well with this 3.21 firmware.   It works fine with my UQ2 on most sources (UPNP, iradio, and analogue and digital inputs), but if I select FM, Nstream goes haywire, losing volume and mute controls, and the ability to switch back to other sources.  I get the same result with three different versions of the Nstream app, including the most recent (3.4), on three different iOS devices, which leads me to think this is a firmware issue.

Is anyone else experiencing this FM glitch?   I sorely miss 3.2 - it worked flawlessly....

I'm using the latest firmware and the latest nStream, and have just checked FM. Switching from UPnP to FM using the app works perfectly, with full functionality on FM. I suspect you need to ensure your setup is spot on, with fixed IP addresses set and so on.

Thanks HH.

I have had my ip address change (or be reassigned) during updates before.  Right now the IP address on both the Nstream App and listed in system status in my qute read the same.  Is there more to it than this?

I've had a qute in place on the same network through all of the firmware and Nstream updates since the product was originally introduced and never had any issues. I'm still stumped as to why one source is affected and not the rest.

Lumos

See if a friendly neighbour will lend you there Windooozze laptop (they could open a guest account that you could use).

Naim have a little more work to do on the Mac side of things.

I gave up with the Mac update and dismantled the rack and did the update via a windows 8 machine. Got it all back together and discovered that I had upgraded to 3.16, a remnant of a previous unsuccessful update last year. Got the NDX out again started the update with the correct image and it crashed halfway through as it lost the NDX on the network. Manually typing in the IP address worked and all is happily back together..

I now get playlists on the NDX but it is bizarre that one accesses playlists on my Unitiserve in a separate place to the playlists on the NDX and neither list shows the other playlists. I now own 4 Unitiserves so the inconsistencies between Nstream and Nserve are a little irritating. I really feel that the current Nserve app is flying in the face of standard user experience with swipes, toggle button presses and pop ups.

I appreciate all your help and I am so glad that everyone else had a smoother ride.

Hi Ian,

What you are seeing when you see two different sets of playlists is really one set of playlists from the uServe's player function, and one set from its UPnP server function.

nServe will tell the uServe to play music, and of course the output for that is its direct digital output.  If you connect the uServe directly to a dac, this is how you play music.

nStream will tell the uServe to send out certain files over the network connection.  This is how your NDX gets its files to play.

These are two totally separate playback systems, each of which can have playlists.  But they exist in totally separate worlds and cannot overlap/interact/etc etc.  Two parallel universes to harken back to Star Trek.

I hope that this helps and makes sense,

Bart

I've set a fixed IP address for my UQ2 (thanks Hungyhalibut).

This is really strange - I still have FM issues - but apparently only on RDS - heavy stations.  On stations with no RDS information - Nstream functions normally, but on our larger radio stations that stream RDS content (e.g., station id, song titles, etc), Nstream loses mute, volume, and source switching functions.

I've emailed Naim about this.  Still missing 3.20.

Will 3.21 firmware versions be made available for the NaimUniti and UnitQute?

The latest firmwares for these units of the Naim website appears to be 3.17?

Michael, see here:

for the NaimUniti

for the UnitiQute

on the Manual&Drivers Tab. I am not sure about the Qute firmware, but the NaimUniti 2 firmware can be used for the NaimUniti 1 as well. (I flashed my NaimUniti 1 with this and it works fine). I think it is the same for the Qute 2 and 1.

It works well on my Qute 1.

Thank you for the replies, I have now updated my Qute to 3.21 and will try my Uniti later.

The Qute has kept all its settings apart from my fixed IP address which is good, and I think better than some of the previous updates. The 3.21 updates for these boxes are not shown on http://www.naimaudio.com/updates which was why I was uncertain.

The 3.21 update tool worked fine.
