Football season 2013-2014

Posted by: mista h on 16 August 2013

As tomorrow the silly season starts all over again i thought i would start up this new thread so that followers of this stupidly rich game could have a say in anything Footie related. So if you want to have a moan or sing the praises about anything related would love to know about it.

My own moan is that lazy git Berbatov has carried on the way he ended last season. Watched him in our 2 home PSFs.He hardly broke sweat.

Also got to shake hands with our new Billionaire Chairman(Mr Khan),a friendly guy who appears to have trouble finding a barber shop

silly season indeed ,, the proper football started a couple of weeks ago

This season i would like the following to happen

Anyone to win the league apart from the Man utd , Chelsea or Man city or liverpool ( safe with that one )

The press stop endless speculation about who is getting sacked next , who really cares

Swansea to continue to play "nice " football

Arsene wenger to watch a game and to see " what happened "

Commentators to not say hes a great role model to young kids ,, we know he isnt

Gary Lineker to realise we all know the score before we watch match of the day its not a suprise

Champions league commentators to stop believing a clubs rivals want them to do well in europe

Spurs to be deducted 50 points for the dodgy ref in the 91 cup final ( yes i still hold a grudge )

pay day loan companies not allowed to sponsor teams ...

Finally ,,, The Mighty and only decent team to ever play in Red and twice champions of Europe Nottingham Forest FC to win the championship in style finally getting promoted after 16 years of dissapointment  to join the silliness next season.

C'mon guys, speaking as a Saints fan don't burst my bubble for a few hours yet. I'm still grinning from Wednesday night and Rickie's fairytale moment. I've a nagging fear that WBA might be bringing me down to earth tomorrow. .....but for now you must excuse me cos I've a header to watch on the box again and again and again.....

Now this is a particularly hard one for me, not helped by having to follow a Soton fan. (I'll forgo the usual terms , Martin C ).  So for my lot - stability, please. We will comfortably be the biggest supported club in League two, regardless of position but if the squad is stable I'm hopeful of being near the play-offs.

In the 'rich league' I think the scrap at the top and bottom will be tougher than ever. I'm obviously hoping (but not expecting) Martin C's lot to take the drop. I expecting, but not hoping, that Palace do.

At the top I fear that it will be another insufferable bout of gloating from Chelsea fans. And I shall continue to enjoy Wenger's whinging when things don't go his way, even the continuing failure to make signings. I also hope lots of fans give Cardiff stick about playing in red shirts (do they still call themselves the Bluebirds?).

I wish Bournemouth well in the Championship. Finally for all those die-hard Coventry fans - I really hope your club pulls through its financial difficulties and you can get away from Northampton.

Am I mistaken to recall you thanking me for Dimi last season?

My initial hope is that Sir David at least brings Rooney on as a sub tomorrow at Swansea (win lose or draw).

You are 100% correct Chris, and yes last year he did save our bacon BUT it makes me bloody angry when all the other lads are working their nuts off and Sir aint. Last season when we played Arsenal at home our Pikey got sent off after 5 mins, with one exception the whole team got stuck in and gave it everything,Arsenal were very lucky to go away with a 1-0 win. My view is that our captain(BH) needs to shout at  Sir more and make it very clear more graft is requirred.

PS If you are going to Swansea today and you have not used it before their Park & Ride sevice is very good, quick for getting away after the game.

My wish list would consist in Spuds getting relegated and for TfL not to schedule engineering works on match days. As they have done today. The Northern, District and Ham & City lines are all down this weekend

I have noticed Spurs fans being particularly 'holier than thou' in recent years. Big chips on some of their shoulders methinks...

First game Liverpool 1 Stoke 0. What a cracking game, Both goalkeepers kept the score down along with the crossbar.Stoke keeper man of the match.Liverpool keeper penalty save in the 88th minute.

I'm no fan of Utd or their fans, however singing what sounds like 'Cum on feel The Moyes...' is quite fun.

Was impressed by The Villans today -- they seem to have picked up where they left off last year.  Not sure about that red card, but even without it, I don't see Arsenal winning that game. Their first defeat in their last 12 home openers. Well done AV!

Not sure how Arsenal won as many games as it did last year.  So with Dempsey gone...but assuming Paulinho lives up to his billing and Bale stays...is Tottenham now the best team in North London?

I see Whingeing Wenger is off to an early start. First match of the season and already 'ze wefewee was offal'. Definitely high on my list of people with whom I don't want to get stuck in a lift.

Delighted with yesterday's comfortable win against Cardiff. The team looks to have gelled really well in the run-up to the season and they look sharp and fit.

Joe Cole was creative and pacey and Downing, when he came on, looked better than anyone else on the pitch.

We will come up against tougher teams than Cardiff but this was a satisfying start to our season. Bring on the Barcodes!

He may not have thrived at Liverpool (or while wearing an England shirt), but for Villa and Boro he was usually excellent. Hopefully he will recapture this form at the Boleyn.

Don't think it's money Wenger needs - the big name players just don't want to go to a silverware free-zone.  My lot have won more in recent years than the Gunners, for goodness sake!

LOL. They were, but Downing was just very good.

I heard an item on the news that Arsenal have bigger cash reserves than the rese of the Premier League teams all put together (some £145m if I heard correctly).

So lack of funds is not the problem. Prseumably intent to spend it and ability to attract players is the issue.

It seems that the sale of shares to someone who looks at Arsenal as an asset to be stripped, is the problem. AW and Gazidis are the fall (fool?) guys for Silent Stan apparently.

The rot will only stop, if the income stream from foolish (optimistic?) season ticket purchasers dries up.

Man City were class tonight. It's going to be a good season.

They did look scarily good but Newcastle didn't provide much of a test and look likely to struggle again this season.

Just seen on text that we have signed Snotty Parker. That and an Aston Villa reject last week. God knows why !! I think our mad Dutchman has had a sudden rush of blood to the head.

I am at a bit of a loss as to why we didn't put in a cheeky bid for him H. He is a super player and I think he will be great for you.

That said, if you're really not keen, we will take him off your hands.
