Football season 2013-2014

Posted by: mista h on 16 August 2013

As tomorrow the silly season starts all over again i thought i would start up this new thread so that followers of this stupidly rich game could have a say in anything Footie related. So if you want to have a moan or sing the praises about anything related would love to know about it.

My own moan is that lazy git Berbatov has carried on the way he ended last season. Watched him in our 2 home PSFs.He hardly broke sweat.

Also got to shake hands with our new Billionaire Chairman(Mr Khan),a friendly guy who appears to have trouble finding a barber shop

Possibly, mind the game after that is away to City...What price the winner of that, wins the title?

Looking forward to that one Jamie.

For Saints fans here [??] we are now being linked in the local media with Totton-born former Blackburn Rovers chief exec John Williams. According to Forbes list, he's the 29th richest man in Totton

JamieWednesday,

Same goes for Luiz. Think the Vidic challenge is yellow and the Rafael two footed tackle a red; though no red for Vidic and there's no jump attack by Rafael.

Chelsea also lucky not to concede a penalty.

And if the sky was pink we'd have marshmallows for tea.

I have to admire Jose for his managerial skills. I'll bet Man United are rueing not employing him. He would have rung better performances out of the current United misfits than Moyes is doing. I hate to think what decisions he'll make in the transfer market when he get's the reported £200,000,000 in his hands.

Agree that Jose would have been a big success at Man U. He's one of the very few managers with a big enough presence and ego not to be in awe of Ferguson's legacy (and continued presence in the stands). I find it curious, though, that Moyes doesn't seem to be able to get best out of the players he has inherited.  His man-management/motivational skills have arguably enabled Everton to punch above their weight for many seasons under his leadership.  What he hasn't had is a big budget and massive expectations of achievement so this will be new territory for him.  Man U don't do bargain-basement shopping.  Apart from the Champions League, which I don't think Man U will win, this looks like a transitional season for Man U and it will be interesting to see what Moyes does with the squad in the Summer.

It'll be harder to attract the world's top players if they aren't in the Champion's League next year, as seems likely. In addition there will be the World Cup factor which will further inflate the price of top performing players and generate greater competition for signings. I think in 2014 it will be a tough road for him to follow.

It may be more interesting to see which clubs squad Moyes is working with by the summer.

Certainly not - David  Moyes is a far far better long term proposition

I'd be very surprised. I know Fergie predates the arrival of the Glasiers but patience with managers seems to be a welcome quality that Man U has.  I think they will stick with Moyes.

Pressure from Ferguson being in the stands is a media invention. After waiting for ages they see this as their chance to put the boot in and do a spot of penis waving; everything is given a negative slant.

Re Jose, doubt Manchester United wanted wham bam thank you ma'am.

Attracting players; probably have to pay a bit more re wages and include a Champions League release clause if they fail to make the top four this season.

Boy the WBA v Everton game was poor - hopefully Coleman is fit v Liverpool. The Toffees looked tired.

David Moyes has promised Man Utd fans will be in a major European competition next year even if he has to write the song himself

Accordinging to the press it is still having an affect on Sir David - but as usual that is media drivel.

'Sir' David?  I have to give you credit for being a very loyal, or very blinkered, supporter of your team. I was rooting for your team on Monday but, even against a pretty poor Chelsea performance, they were dire. Perhaps when RVP and Rooney are back fit you maybe able to maintain the mid table position.

Monday? That's kind.

You are so mean

You might really upset the softer United supporters

Well done Sunderland! What a pathetic display of penalty taking by United.

Looking forward to City meeting the Black Cats at Wembley.

Long trip home tonight Chris.
