Football season 2013-2014

Posted by: mista h on 16 August 2013

As tomorrow the silly season starts all over again i thought i would start up this new thread so that followers of this stupidly rich game could have a say in anything Footie related. So if you want to have a moan or sing the praises about anything related would love to know about it.

My own moan is that lazy git Berbatov has carried on the way he ended last season. Watched him in our 2 home PSFs.He hardly broke sweat.

Also got to shake hands with our new Billionaire Chairman(Mr Khan),a friendly guy who appears to have trouble finding a barber shop

From the afternoon's games Jol's future looks ever more bleak. And after this evening's 3-0 loss at home 'Big Sam' and his strikerless team teeter just out of the relegation places on goal difference.  What do you 'ammer fans make of Nolan being the forward-most player?  What has happened to that 'academy football' that WHU used to preach?

Frank Lampard seems to be doing OK...

Making next Saturdays feast of mediocrity a possible watershed in the career of one of them, assuming they both make it to next Saturday.

The Nolan thing is odd, as a captain he is far better than the recent offerings, crikey when Upson was captain the press seemed to think Parker was, as a player Nolan has faded badly but The Samster doesn't seem to be able to pick a team without him and he's way off as the 'front man'(God what ever happened to center forwards and half backs, jumpers for goal posts etc.etc.)

With regard to 'The Academy' It's my humble opinion that the modern money mad, sky tv , driven game is partly to blame as instant gratification has become the norm and teams can't(daren't) risk relegation when for a lot of teams it was an accepted part of the rebuilding process when the kids got their chance.

Anyway, we're in the mire for sure but it's yer' 'ammers init,  nothing new to see here.

Don't know how to double quote but on Frank Lampard(or curnthooks as I think of him) that typifies what happened to the academy products, they all fooked off somewhere else.

I hadn't appreciated that WHU & Fulham meet next Saturday.  As you say, Arfur, could be Big Sam or Jol's last game.

I hope its Jols, the sooner he goes the better.Guy Does not know how to MANAGE a football team. Have to say at yesterdays game he has at last realised that Senderos is a total tosser and he was on the bench. How that idiot gets in the Swiss national team is beyond me.

If any of you Wet Spammers would like me to buy them a half of shandy, our plans at the moment is to be in the W/spoons in Gracechurch st around 12 ish and then get the District line from Monument to Upton park. Do let me know if you can make it.

Well, from what I've heard through the grapevine (a very good inside source) AVB could also be in the firing line along with Jol and Big Sam. He apparently has been given 2 weeks to start scoring and that hasn't been helped by the 6-0 demolition by City today. Aguero has now scored more goals in the Premiership than Spurs have scored all season. Their saving grace was their defensive record until today when City put as many goals past them as have been scored against them all season. Given Spurs spent over £120 million in the transfer market I think David Levy won't tolerate much more and AVB's position could be more tenuous than the other two.

But they did recover 85 million when they sold the Leek to Madrid.

I don't understand how AVB can leave Defoe on the bench when the team has scored so few goals. Defoe has his faults e.g. don't expect him to help out midfield of defence, but he has always had goals in him.

But they still spent all that money H. David Levy isn't known for splashing the cash, look what happened after they sold Modric, and now he'll want his money's worth.

Agree MDS. I was talking to my friend who is a Spurs fan and he made the same comment.

Lloris saves, but Jesus nets the rebound.

Lloris saves, rebound then passed wide to Jesus who scores with a sweet tight angled first touch over the goalkeeper. Class.

So, next weekend's gonna be big for Fat Sam, The Thing and AVB.

I suspect Jol is in more danger from the sack than Sam, but a loss at the Boleyn against Fulham will play very badly with the home support and the Bongo Brothers may start looking elsewhere (although to whom, I've no idea). We were absolutely bloody abysmal against Chelsea - I don't mind losing but it was the manner of the loss that grates. Carry on like this and we will go down.

Spuds have Man U so AVB may get a week's break but he has to change his system. One up front just isn't working.

What sad news - and with United travelling to Germany tomorrow as well.

History could have so nearly repeated itself last night.

Just got back from Laverkusen (via Manchester) - a great tribute to Bill Foulkes too

0-3 to the hammers, who have show some unusual ambition by bringing on a forward for the last quarter of the game.  But is this Jol's last game in charge at Fulham?

I have to say, Mista, that Fulham were woeful. As bad as any team I've seen at the Boleyn all year. They didn't gel, hell, they didn't even seem interested. I'm sure Jol is toast now.

The three points were very useful - and hey, we have a better GD than the Spuds - but we weren't entirely convincing. Much more work needed, and the away game at Palace on Tuesday will be a much stiffer test.

I am typing this one handed,as in my other hand is a glass of shampoo.

The big fat useless Dutchman to quote our Kevin is toast.

It's been coming but who will replace Jol? How about Di Canio? He'd shake up the lazy players.

Posted on: 01 December 2013 by Arfur Oddsocks

They've put Meulensteen in charge ?
